Looking to do something similar to this setup (using real pinball flippers/bumpers) - very impressed!
My DOF setup uses a dedicated 750W power supply for all the toys (knocker, motor, shaker, blower, flashers, beacons, lights, etc.) and Sainsmart and LEDWiz to drive them.
Originally used smaller solenoids for the flippers/bumpers and just am not happy with the sound/vibration, especially when mounted underneath the playfield monitor. Tried car solenoids (lots of amps!), also tried using Siemens contactors but not impressed with the sound in either case.
What do folks think about using each of these at either 12V or up to 24V to get the proper "kick" at a reasonable amperage? Coil windings show ohms to calculate amps -- https://flippers.com...resistance.html
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Should I wire it directly to the Sainsmart (thru a fuse of course) or does there need to be an additional piece in place to not leave the circuit open when the person pushes flipper for example?
