Hey all, I am just about to have a crack at building my first Virtual Pinball cabinet and am looking for some advice regarding the Operating System. I have just built a new PC for the cabinet and have installed Windows 10 onto it. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the Ghost Spectre version of Windows and whether they think its worth installing that over the normal Windows OS? Any advice or experience based opinions would be much appreciated.
For my PC I am running an i7 10700, 16gb DDR4, a 1TB SSD and I have an RTX2060, but contemplating swapping it out for the 2080ti I have in my other PC. I will be displaying to a 43 inch 4K tv, a 32 inch 720 for back glass and a 19 inch HP monitor for the DMD.

Thanks for the replies guys. Looks like it might be a bit hit and miss. Might give it a go and if it doesnt seem to be working then I will just do a fresh install back to standard Windows 10

Why not install the regular w10 and remove Microsoft bloatware yourself ?
You can also disable some services that you dont use, but that could cause a failure if you didable too much services.

Window 10 does not have that much bloatware to it, and most of it is simply removeable via normal means

All of it is removeable via powershell.

having windows 10 stop doing updates is as simple as disabling intelligent background transfer service and windows update service in services.msc

keep in mind that also disables AV from updating, so be mindful of web browsing on such a machine

if one really really wants the pc not to be able to see microsoft at all, i could give you a modification to put in the hosts file
mind you that prevents the pc from seeing microsoft at all, even if you need it to see microsoft for some reason.

Doing so is not really super useful, unless one is telemetry paranoid, and a pincab doesnt generate much telemetry to begin with, if it is even connected to the internet at all.

I cannot answer as to if ghost spectre is useful on a cab or not
I can tell you that in general as an OS, it was utter garbage

So many things flat out did not work, DX 12 was basically forget about it.
There was an annoying number of things that would not install right or run right
Hell i could not even get windows to activate with a valid COA

If it is telemetry what you want to stop then you can always use a small program to deactivate what you don't want. I use this program and it works very well, and it is even free :)

O&O ShutUp10++: Free antispy tool for Windows 10 and 11 (oo-software.com)

It is just a simple exe, no installation needed.

Yea that is supposed to work good.
I dont do anything they'd remotely find useful or interesting, nor anything id care about if they were sitting here watching me LOL so i dont even bother except on one PC
that i literally dont want talking outside the LAN nor updating since the apps it is running would die from an update since they are old, and the security on them sucks, anyone could pop in with out trying, but they only serve a purpose inside the house anyways
so that PC doesnt need to see outside.
