I have the Beavis and Butthead table. It is awesome, but unfortunately slow in comparison to other tables. I have already tweaked the graphics settings. Mainly minimize the max texture, used the performance slider, removed the reflections and ball trails and similar without luck. I also edited the table to make the Beavis and Butthead 3D models invisible. Although I am not sure is the VPX still processing them, not just showing the characters. What else could I try to improve the performance of the table?

Not sure is this "Newbie Guide to VPX Performance and Ball Stutter" still relevant with the VPX 10.8; but the images of the tutorial are not available anymore. It is hard to follow the guidelines.

Try opening table in editor, and clicking Table tab at top, then click Image Manager.

I find that reducing some of the huge sized images resolution on the actual pics, helps tremendously.

Then converting them to WebP format, also cuts down on the file size.

I convert the high number on pic resolution to 4096.

So instead of 2574 x 5600, it is 1883 x 4096,

Try downloading attachment.

I have converted 4 of the biggest images in the Image Manager to WebP format and lowered res to 4096.

Attached File  Beavis Pic Test.zip   3.72MB   2 downloads

Open the Image Manager, and delete these 4 images.

B&BPlastics

B&BPlastics2

B&BPlayfield

B&BPlayfield-Misc

Import new images from attachment into the Image Manager.

Play table and see if it helped.

Save table to keep changes.

Just by converting these 4 pics, the table size went from 146 MB's to 132 MB's.

You could easily get the table size down under 100 MB's if you converted all of the pics in the Image Manager, to WebP Format.

Thanks xenonph, I didn't thought that one! The table was laggy as usual, unfortunately. I went even further, resized more large images and changed them into webp without luck. And I once more checked the graphics settings and it didn't help either. But I haven't touched the video synchronization, not actually knowing what it is exactly. Could it be tweaked somehow?

Are you fully exiting VP after making the settings changes?

Man, I was hopeful that the image resizing would eventually work. I installed the Bimp batch manipulator to my Gimp, resized every image down to 80%, changed the resolution to 55dpi, and exported them as webp with 90% quality. Excluding the color grades. The size of all the images dropped from 80mb to only 10mb. But sadly the game is still jerky. There is something else in the table that is too much for my setup. Maybe some 3D models, but I am not sure how to deal with the hypothesis properly.

@gamerplayer did you check that you're on the absolute latest VPX, VPinMAME and B2S versions?
Did you try running the table without backglass?
Is the backglass running in exe mode?
Did you disable reflections etc in VP video settings and set it on low-end PC settings for this table?

Thanks for the new tips, this community is awesome! Okay, I don't use B2S why I double verified it was disabled. I think I do not need to update it then? VPinMAME was the latest, but the VPX got a new build, so I updated it and verified that the build changed. I have already previously disabled reflections and those kinds of things from the graphics settings. Unfortunately, none of these worked.

My gut feeling says that the detailed 3D models are the issue, since there are no similar objects in the other tables I play.

OK gamerplayer you can already rule out a lot of things. What's your system specs and what fps and lag are you getting when running the table? Are you running the table on frame pacing setting in video settings?

I have a quite unusual setup. I am running the VPX inside a virtualized Windows 11 with Parallels Desktop on Mac. First I thought it's not going to work, but actually the games have been really smooth. The only exception is the Beavis and Butthead table. I tried to search how to display FPS and other specs, but the F11 key does nothing. The other functions keys work, I can for example open the F1 menu.
