Hey all, I just noticed that all my tables in VPX are having an issue with the plunger.

It works, however...  when I hit the left flipper, the plunger goes all the way back and is released.

When I hit the right flipper, the plunger gets pushed in all the way forward.

They do not affect the launch ball button.

I have a KL25Z board that I got the whole kit from Virtuapin. I am running Tables through Popper and have no other issues that I can see.

I have checked my controls for both VPX and Popper and they are completely correct.

What should I try next? Luckily it doesn't affect the game much. It is just really annoying. Thanks!

Clearly there is an issue with either your VPX key settings or something in your Pinscape settings.  Can you show your setups?

It only does it in VPX, when I have pinscape open the buttons do not activate the plunger button luckily. I do not know how to upload an image of my settings, when I try on the image host it gives me a warning and does nothing.

But I can assure you that the plunger is only set to the launch ball button and not the flippers.

I'm very curious as to what would cause this. Wondering if it was a specific table you both coincidentally downloaded, 4 months apart that made a global change? I don't know but I sure would like to know in case this ever happens to me or anyone else.

See if either of these 2 links direct you to your problem and eventual resolve. Please post your findings.

Thanks for your reply and for the links, Mike!

I have read through the links, but didn't really find anything to help me with my problem.

I made a few videos showing how the problem looks like. You can find them here:

World Cup Soccer (VPX) - Flippers affecting plunger: https://youtu.be/-xpX81RgI0Y

Junk Yard (FX3) - Flippers not affecting plunger: https://youtu.be/e5zNL3V2ank

Virtuapin Controller Settings - Flippers not affecting plunger: https://youtu.be/6Xl9jmLFW4s

Here are my VPX settings:

https://drive.google...?usp=share_link

Have I missed something obvious?

So the problem is with all VPX tables I have installed, but not with any FX2 or FX3 tables. And the problem is not visible in the Virtuapin Controller Settings.

Thanks for taking the time to try to help me.

I had the same problem - it was due to x360ce installed in the current version. This runs in the background and also affects VPX. After I uninstalled x360ce the problem went away.
x360ce was previously installed so that the cabinet's button inputs worked in Pinball FX3 under Steam. In the end I activated the Steam input for Pinball FX3 - so all the buttons worked correctly.
There are other ways to get x360ce to work with Pinball FX3, but that didn't work for me. (basically an older version of x360ce needs to be installed in the game folder).

AntimicroX is probably a better pincab solution

Like x360ce, JoyToKey is another similar software. It can do so pretty crazy (usually helpful) things.

VPX doesn't need them. If you must use them for Pinball-FX or The Pinball Arcade (in Steam) I would suggest Loading/un-Loading it via batch file or PinballY front-end allows for it to happen.

I don't run those others any more (only VPX), so I don't even run JoyToKey any more. Leaner is better.

I'm using an xBox controller with AntiMicroX to play on desktop. When AMX is not running, the left trigger is operating only the plunger (or launch button). With the mapping, the flippers work with the triggers, however the plunger is also activating at the same time as the left flipper. This is causing problems when selecting skill shots because it launches the ball when I used the left flipper to select, or on video modes that use flippers to select and launch button to accept. Is there any way to disable that?

dont set plunger to the trigger axis

set it to the right thumbstick Y axis.

You cant ask the same control to do two things and not do them at the same time

I realized I wasn't clear about my problem. The plunger is set to the Enter key in VP. The issue I'm seeing is that WITHOUT mapping software, when the controller is connected to the PC, the left controller trigger is being automatically mapped to the Enter key for some reason. I don't see anywhere in the control preferences for gamepad settings. The question is - Why is it doing that and can it be prevent?

The key mapping software is not doing anything to override that. The left trigger is mapped to the left Shift key and Enter is mapped to "Stick 2" down. I have nothing anywhere (that I can see) which maps that trigger to the Enter key. So I'm asking the control to activate the flipper and something else is asking it to pull the plunger.

because you have the plunger set to the axis that represents the shoulder triggers
Set it to i think rY axis, for right thumb stick

and dont set the right stick to do anything in antimicro, you dont need to map anything in it but the shoulder triggers map those to your magnasave keys in antimicro

in vpx, set the shoulder buttons to be left and right flipper,
That is buttons 5 and 6

A = 1

B = 2

X = 3

Y = 4

LS = 5

RS = 6

Back = 7

Start = 8

LT = 9

RT = 10

LStick

X axis = nudge left / right

y axis = nudge up / down

RStick

rY axis = plunger

rX axis = not used

Z axis = not used (shoulder triggers are Z Axis)

Antimicro, set left and right triggers to = keys for left and right magnasave keys

Map no other inputs in antimicro for the VPX profile

Thank you so much MattBrod! I have been away from this for a while now since I kind of got stuck there last year. I decided to check my post here, without much hope of finding a solution. But to my delight I found not only a suggested trouble shooting step but an actual solution to my problem! :) I tested shutting down x360ce from running in the background when playing World Cup Soccer (VPX) yesterday and the problem was gone! Now I just have to test an older version or an alternative. But at least I know what the problem is. Thank you!
