Hi everyone,

I'd like to share a project I've been building for my own cabinet: the PinballY Expansion Pack, an unofficial add-on written entirely with PinballY's JavaScript scripting API. It doesn't modify PinballY at all. It's one folder in Scripts, plus one import line.

The idea: give everyone in the house a reason to come back to the cab. Each player gets their own Profile, their own progress and their own stats, and there's always something new to play.



What's in it

• Profiles & Avatars: a Change Player carousel, a Welcome Screen that greets you by name, and a Guest profile for visitors. Only games of at least one minute count, so an accidental launch never messes up your stats.
• Table of the Day / Table of the Week: every day you get a table nobody in the house has played yet (or the one left alone the longest), and every week a random one. Play them several days or weeks in a row to build Streaks.
• Weekly Challenges: a new household Challenge every Monday (five different Stern tables, three tables you've never played, half an hour on a single table...), with a progress card on the wheel and a "Challenge Tables" filter.
• Table Mastery: ten Mastery Levels per table, from Rookie to Pinball Wizard, shown on a Mastery Bar. Collection Tiers unlock Avatar Frames.
• Achievements: dozens of them from Bronze to Platinum, some of them secret. They're announced by a small non-blocking toast and feed a Player Level that has no cap.
• High Scores per Profile: the pack reads the board before and after each game and credits new scores to whoever was playing, whatever initials were typed. It also tells you when someone takes one of your records. It works for ROM-less community originals too (reads VPReg.stg from VPX's User folder) and draws a podium-style High Score board.
• Your Stats / Household Stats: your whole pinball life on one screen, and everyone side by side, with the best of each line in gold.
• PinballY in 6 languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese.

For the cab owner

• An Admin Profile that keeps the setup entries for you alone
• A Child Profile that hides Adult tables from the wheel
• Profile Reset, for one Profile or the whole household
• Optional Menu Cleanup for leaner menus
• Redrawn menus in a "Steamball" look, a Random Game spun on a wheel of fortune, launches without the black flash, the backglass hidden during play, custom sounds...

Every feature can be turned off on its own in a simple .env.local file.

Requirements & install

Requirements: Windows and PinballY 1.1.0 Beta 10 or later. vpxtool and PINemHi 3.6.8 are optional but recommended for ROMs and High Scores.

Install: copy the project into PinballY\Scripts\ExpansionPack, add this line to Scripts\main.js, then restart:

import "./ExpansionPack/main.js";

Your existing scripts keep running. All the details are in the README.

Coming next (ideas, nothing promised): a "Year in Pinball" recap, themes other than Steamball, per-Profile ratings and favourites, seasonal Avatar Frames, and an easier install and update.
