I started building this unit in July and its come a long way! A little info:
-24" 144hz acer playfield
-3 screen setup with 12" and 6" monitors making up the backglass.
-small form Lenovo PC, i5 processor, msi gtx 1050, 256gb sdd, pc removed from case and mounted on motherboard frame
-speaker system is just acer desktop USB speaker set removed from casing
-kl25z standalone pinscape setup

Before this I had never attempted opening a pc, it is surprisingly simple to do and look forward to building another PC soon!

My cabinet is built from 1/2" plywood, dimensions were sized to my particular monitors. I wanted a gaming monitor with high hz refresh rate and a bezel that was the same width all the way around. The blackbox 12" monitor I had kicking around and the 6" monitor was a 'raspberry pi' toy from Amazon for about $50

Most of the fine cutting (for monitors, computer fans) was done with a dremel saw tool. I also used a dremel to 'router' out the indentation for my top glass.

Seeing the back box monitors and audio system mounted in the backbox.

Eyeing up placement before drilling my leg holes!

Here is a view of the body cavity - after painting just waiting to start installing parts!

Thought I would share my simple 'back door' idea. The door is shaped to allow space for my aec power plug input. It also has a magnetic latch which holds it closed, and a small leather 'handle' to open.

Here is my dad helping me 'beta test' the unit last weekend.

Photo of the unit running after recently wiring up my button lighting.

Some detail shots showing assembled unit...

Here are some internal shots of the wiring (although my pinscape board was still in the mail for that last photo)
If anyone has any great suggestions for a BACKBOX TOPPER that doesnt require too many pwm outputs, please leave a comment!
Looking forward to posting again in the future when I have the final touches on this unit, namely the topper, some art on the sides, and a name!
