Greetings all.

I am fairly new here, and am in the process of assembling all the components for my 3 screen setup. Playfield 43" 16:9 monitor, Backglass 27" 16:9 monitor, and PinDMD3 screen.

I ordered a Widebody cab from VirtuaPin that should be here next week, but I am working on getting all the hardware running so when the cab arrives I can install everything and get right down into playing.

I have tried to find the answers to my questions here in this forum (and others) before I ask certain questions that may have already been answered.

Most I have found the answers for, but I still have a couple questions that maybe experienced cab owners would already know and wouldn't mind explaining.

The main things I am trying to get worked out is the "backglass" situation. I leaned how to get back glasses working properly in VP9.x by getting the directb2s file, naming it the same as the table file and it works no problem.

Where I am running into a bit of trouble is in VPX.

I was under the impression (and I might be completely wrong) that the backless image that you see in "desktop mode" can be transferred to the second monitor when in cabinet / FS mode.

Many times a really good backglass image is already included with the table, like JP Salas' new VPX Meteor table that functions properly (score and alignment) but when I try using a previous directb2s version found here, it doesn't look anywhere near as good image quality, nor does it function properly.

Am I missing something basic in VPX that lets you transfer the desktop version backglass image to a second screen?

The other issue I am experiencing is that 95% of the directb2s files are designed and setup for 4:3 monitors (due to the shape of the image that usually includes the speaker bezel and DMD area). When I open them on a 16:9 monitor at fullscreen, the image stretched to 16:9 which also includes the speaker bezel and dmd area, which I do no actually need because I will be using a PinDMD3 DMD as a "3rd screen".

Do I need to use B2S BackGlass Designer and go an remake all these b2s files to function in widescreen (cutting off the bezel and DMD area)?

If thats the case, then I have my work cut out for me.

I figured SOMEONE has the same type of setup as mine and knows a work around that I am missing completely.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

For VPX cabinet, you use directb2s files just like vp9.  No magic shifting of desktop backglass to 2nd display

Since you have real DMD, you want to hide the backglass speaker/grill area by default.  Modify the screenres.txt by adding some small value, like 1, for the dmd width.  This will fool B2S into automatically hiding the speaker/grill by default.

Ah. Perfect!

I didn't realize when you actually 'click' on the backglass itself (I've only clicked on the DMD to move it) that you can 'hide' the grill / speaker section. Some of the b2s files I have don't have the "grill marker" set on them, but that's an easy fix with B2S designer.

Thanks for clearing all this up for me gtxjoe.
