A certain thread of conversation on Facebook brought to my attention that Russ has been working with Freezy in order to produce a firmware update for PinDMD3 that will eliminate the slowdown we are seeing in some of the colored dmd games.  Fish Tales is one of my favorites and the slowdown during the video mode has rendered that mode unplayable, so I would very much like to receive this upgrade.  The conversation discussed the fact that someone had gotten the firmware and bricked their board because the firmware has to be generated for the specific serial number of the board in order to work.  I've searched Freezy's GetHub site and found the ongoing thread regarding the development of this new firmware.  The project appears to have reached the point where there are functional versions being tested, but there are no official announcements that I've been able to locate.  Russ has not logged into this site since December 17, 2018, but this is the official support site, so I decided to ask the question here.  Does anybody have additional information about this project, when it would potentially be ready for prime time distribution and how to get your name on the list to receive the new firmware when it becomes available?

My suggestion is to poke the bear. ( read :  the guy that sold you the product ) If you look at the thread. Russ is clearly saying. He is a programmer, not a sales person. This is customer support related.

To be perfectly honest, its a reason I've bought a pre made alternative.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

Thalamus,

Done.  I don't think I'm asking for anything unreasonable.

Good. No, you're not. The alternative is constantly getting free to use FW updates. And this is a essential one. Thanks, and crossing my fingers that we get some official answer.

I've been informed the firmware is done and freezy will be doing some testing.

I don't have a timeline. I don't know freezy's schedule.

Thank you.

Thanka for the update, Paul.  My PinDMD3 has been a very positive experience and I was a very early adopter.  This firmware upgrade will be greatly appreciated by all of us.  I'm sure there are a lot of us ready to sign up for the improved firmware.

The firmware update is now officially available.  It, in conjunction with the newest version of DMDext, resolves all of the issues we've discussed above.  Full details are available in this thread:  https://www.vpforums...showtopic=44255

Sorry, I've completely missed this thread. Here are the instructions on how to upgrade, and why you should.

Awesome thanks.

Edit: LOL I signed up but have no idea how to post anything.  I don't see anything that resembles a normal forum.  What is github?

Just scroll to very bottom of page in my link above

make sure you are signed in
then leave a comment that you need firmware, and your DMD's serial number

github is basically for project source file management, version control etc, along the lines of visual source safe, or bitbucket etc
does not have a forum per se
