Love the Eyeball Pinball!!

I am a beginner at all this.

I have been using Bowling Balls that I Googled for the NFL Mods. Each table comes with 5 to 6 pinballs that you can choose from.

Here are a few..

1410461711879551926878_t.png

1410462613262972256221_t.png

14104654059871425903086_t.png

I also Googled NFL Pool Balls...(Billiards)

bumper16_t.jpg

bumper17_t.jpg

The Bowling Balls are all PNG Decals (Cut-Outs), so no transparency is needed. (Same as the Player Decals)

I would have liked to figure out how to change and select different Pinballs with keypress. But i added instructions with each table on how to select the different Pinballs available on each table through the Visual Pinball Editor.

I also leave the original Pinball for those who like Plain Balls..

This is the one I like best..

Keep on Pinballin'

I think everyone should play with their balls, just to find something they like.  I tend to keep my balls smooth... I don't really like scratches on my balls...

lol... I guess this topic was just asking for trouble.

Seriously though... I like to just use the plain ball image with no decals.

Good topic. I'm a big fan of ball decals. They help me interpret VP10 ballspin (which I love, but still feel is just a bit too intense) in a helpful way. Decals also allow me to fully appreciate the sophistication of the VPX ball physics engine -- totally complex and amazing. The ball takes a truly wild ride!

If you want to experiment, try resizing any wheel image (I think it's 256 x 128 in VPX) in gimp. Make sure to preserve transparency when you export. My favorites wheel images to use as decals are Vulcan and King Pin. Accessorize, dudes!

:P

I always thought it would be fun to put the name or initials or logo of the person who held the high score on that table on my cab on the ball. A way to honor their score.

You can probably export them from Visual Pinball Editor when table is loaded into it.

if you want to use the balls I mentioned in the first post right click on the images and do a save as.... remember those are for VPX tables

the eyeball textures are in my Rat Fink VPX table.... in the image manager, to make sure you're getting the correct textures use the dropdown like in post #3

come on... other people have to be using custom ball or using a favorite

or am I wrong and everyone is content using the ball the table builder picks??

this might be for another topic but,.. is this same thing happening with the Environment HDR map as well??

comeon people live a little "play" with these tables, tweak them to your liking, mess with them just to see what stuff does.... and if you screw it up, redownload it, or make a copy...

I like to play with JP's balls while he is asleep.  It's a "timeshock" thing because I'm downunder and he is on top.

I think that's enough "inyourend-oh!" for one post. ;)

But seriously, my little arcade is dark, so I like to run my tables in a darker "night mode". This works well, but some tables have an extra dark flipper area and the ball can get harder to see, so this is where JP's Timeshock ball helps.

Also I Googled Disco Balls .png..

-mega-shiny-disco-balls-psd93709_t.png

This one looks like it would work well...

moonball_t.png

These are "Cut-Outs" and do not need any transparency. (Same with the other Player Decals and Pinballs I use for NFL MODS.)

If you ask me, I think the bowling balls make the best pinballs.

Remember to add ".png"  to your search and they will mostly all be "Cut-Outs".

Here are some cool ones...

_60-400528_lizard-ball_cmyk_1_t.png

brunswick-bass-fishing_t.png

brunswick-flame_t.png

brunswick-leopard_t.png

brunswick-snake_t.png

brunswick-star-wars-darth-vader_t.png

brunswick-star-wars-yoda_t.png

brunswick-tweety-bird_t.png

hammer-black-widow-clear_t.png

kr-incredible-hulk_t.png

There is a huge variety to choose from and they are "Cut-Outs", so no need to worry about transparency!

FOR THOSE THAT DON'T KNOW HOW TO CHANGE THE PINBALL ON TABLE.....

To use these..

Save Pic of New Pinball to your Documents

Load the table you want to use, into the Visual Pinball Editor...

Click the Preferences Tab...

Browse through the pics and find the original Pinball for the table..(Note the name that is used for the Pinball)

THE NAMES OF THE ORIGINAL PINBALLS WILL VARY FOR EACH TABLE.

On NFL Mods, the name is "Moonball".

Now change the name of your bowling ball to the same name of Pinball on your table.

Now import it into the image manager.

(CLICK IMPORT ON UPPER RIGHT OF IMAGE MANAGER AND BROWSE TO NEW PINBALL)

Start the Table and Play with new Pinball.

Keep on Pinballin'
