This is a collection of 300 ball textures to be used with VPX8.
These are equirectangular textures, not simple flat round images.
 
Instead of simply put them all in a zip file, I have made a table in which you can swap the images and see how they look in the table.
Just run the table and press LEFT or RIGHT SHIFT to change the images on the ball.
You will see that not all the images look good on the ball, even if the images look really cool
 
I have got these 300 images from the dreamstime.com web site, and they have thousands and thousands of images.
With this selection of images you will get an idea how the images map around the ball, and maybe you'll find the right image for your table
The images I use in my tables are numbers 138 and 139, the one I call JPBall_Equirectangular.
 
And if you don't find the right texture for your ball then take a look at dreamstime.com and see if you can find a ball you like. And if you find one, then I'm sure we should like to see it
(for VPX you don't need the HDRI version of the images, just right click on the image you want and save it, then if you want you can resize it to 600x300, or 512x256)

I have added a second file to the download. This time there are 200 more balls, a little more metallic and less room environment.

 

Again, not all the images look pretty on the ball, but at least you can see how the textures wrap around the ball. I still see many people using the old squared textures, which looks good in desktop mode, but not in FS or VR mode.

I think in VPX8, it is time to update the ball textures and use some nice equirectangular textures
