File Name: Black Jack SS (Bally 1976) FS/DT

File Submitter: allknowing2012

File Submitted: 16 Apr 2016

File Category: VPX Recreations

Author(s): allknowing2012
Manufacturer: Bally
Year: 1977
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

A card gaming themed machine from Bally. Another transition game from Bally where both an EM and a Solid State game were produced.

Perhaps the lack of the popular drop targets makes this table an under appreciated and rare table.

The game rules are "simple" -- hit the "player" targets to get your hand higher than the dealer's hand. When you have a winning hand, take the risky, hard shot into the kicker to score the bonus multiplier.

As with many games of this era, the key to a big score is in the bonus!

This release is pretty much an entire redraw of the table with a rework of existing internet images for the plastics.

Be sure to have your .directb2s backglass file named exactly the same as the table to ensure it is paired up with the table when you start the game.

Use F6 to select 5 balls and "player wins on a tie" to increase your chances at a good game and score.

Enjoy!

Great graphics and gameplay, however, the 1000/Advance rollover on the upper right isn't registering, to my great frustration.  It works fine on my VP9 version, but I'd really rather play this one!

Thanks for the comments - I didn't notice that. Turns out the manual was a bit confusing. I have updated the switch number. The new version also adds a few objects to the collections for sounds - posts and rubbers / etc. I have also shrunk the apron down a bit to allow for a bigger more correct alley way under the flippers to the drain.

For those "materials" experts out there - how can I make the upper lane dividers a bit more opaque and not seemingly invisible during the desktop mode. I have looked and tried settings from other machines but none seem to look quite right.

Enjoy.

BTW -- going thru the complete list of Bally tables from 76 to 82 - there appears to be only 2 tables, Freedom & Vector,  that are in need of an update. Others have pretty nice tables in either vp9 or vp10. So onto my next table :-)

[UPDATE] HOLD ON! Hauntfreaks sent me his tweaks. Let get incorporate those and I will update again shortly.

Okay .. the Hauntfreaks tweaks are in .. awesome stuff. Oh and I cant forget Arngrim for providing the dof fixes as always. We should have a "certified by" tag for them.

This table is Certified by Hauntfreaks & Arngrim :-)

So same updates as above but now with more excellent graphic cleanup work.
