Hi

I have spent the whole day reinstalling Visual pinball after Windows crashed repeatedly on me, and now everything seems to be working fine, better than my previous install in fact. However, I can't get the PinDMD2 to show anything. It's plugged in, drivers installed, and it's lit up all pretty with the PinDMD.com logo, but I can't for the life of me get anything to show up on it when I start up a table.

The pindmd.com install guide says "Download the custom VpinMAME.dll [link] Replace your current VpinMAME.dll with this version. It is recommended to rename your old file in case you want to revert to it. Run the VisualPinMAME SETUP.exe installer and click Install - this will install the custom VpinMAME.dll"

When I do this and install it, the Default options window in Setup Installation program (version 1.42) loses some of the options (including the Use DMD and Use PinDMD boxes), therefore I can't get it to work. To get these options back, I have to reinstall the VpinMAME.dll from the SAM unified pack (I downloaded the one for PinDMD2), so in principle everything should be working well. But for some reason it's not. I'm not getting any error message - the tables are opening up fine on screens 1 and 2, and the native DMD appears on either of the screens if I activate it in the backglass and works fine, but I can't get my actual DMD to show anything at all.

ANY IDEAS, anyone?

Thanks in advance

And you clicked install on the setup.exe? and you have the check boxes on for pindmd in the "setup defaults" options?

Can you test a rom via that setup.exe program.

btw .. this site doesnt allow discussions of the SAM dll and such .. so you may want to try the site where you got that dll :-)

Thanks allknowing2012.

Yes I followed the instructions on *your* instructive video (thanks for that by the way). How would I test a rom using that prog? What I don't understand is that when I load the other .dll (as provided on the pinDMD website), those options disappear from the "setup options" menu and I get a version that is 3 years older ...

Noted the comments about which forums to use.

GOT IT!! Up and running.   Thanks a lot for the tip :-)

Great news .. the dll on pindmd likely has those options turn on and hence no need for a check box - it will likely be out of date and wont have the newer roms so best to get the newer version as you did.
