File Submitted: 17 Sep 2013

File Category: VP 9.x MOD Cabinet Tables (FULL SCREEN)

Author(s): JP Salas, Grizz, Noah Fentz, Aaron James
Manufacturer: Williams
Year: 2013

First of all thanks to:
to JP Salas for allowing me to mod this wonderful amazing table. I'm amazed how this table was put together!
to Grizz for the playfield and apron redraws.
to Noah for the pictures
to studmud for the Big Foot video

I did the following:
-adjusted all alpha ramp flashers (additive bi, resized, changed textures)
-reworked most images of the table
-adjust physics/flippers settings.
-changed GI lighting from golden white/yellow to very light ocean blue.
-changed some of the table lights. (river, center rafts, etc.)

Aaron James I believe that it,s better that you let  to JPSalas that update theirs tables when he want.

I know that you have his approvation but all the changes that you do in theirs table he can do them perfectly.

It,s better that begin a new table on scratch and you don´t waste the time updated the tables of JPSalas because to him also like updated theirs tables with new flashes etc..and he,ll do when have time a bit of time.

I sent a video very nice the other day of BigFoot moving in HD that when he have a bit of time will update the table more others mofications.

well i guess if JP wants to update his table he will do it and upload his own updated JP version !

why not enjoy different versions ?

Let Aaron have his fun , he is doing a nice job and I enjoy his nightmods !

thanks a lot aaron!

BTW: one thing i never liked about that table is the nasty beginning

you can plunge the ball SDTM , or you fire it full throttle on your left flipper and the start of the game is always very nervous

Great mod Aaron as always I love night mods in my cab..
As for JP he has done more than enough for the vp community if he wants to work on something im sure he will but he needs a break these mods are just an extension of his great work and they are different enough not to replace the original.
Nothing wrong with adding to the community..
Thanks to everyone that help make all this possible.

I agree with Arcade4 - the more choices the better. Its all about choice - if you choose not to download and play the table - then its quite simple - dont.

Thanx very much Aaron!! Very Cool!

If JP gave his approval, which personally I have never seen him not give, then that should be an indication that he is thrilled

someone wants to have fun modding.

Besides, he needs the practice so he can help me with Haunted Mansion one day :) :) ha ha!!!!

Cheers,

Maceman

Good again, unfortunatly white water sounds, especially voices are not that good quality wise. but maybe it was that way in the real pinball as well.

Haha, JP is amazing...I'm "ok".

Since JP is a retired VP author, he probably won't be updating tables anytime soon.
In the conversations that I've had with him, I was never told of any update in the bigfoot animation.
If he does update this wonderful...awesome! ...then just wait for that day.
I'm not the best in the biz, but I try to update tables, and sometimes have fun with lighting and stuff just to give it some "pizzazz"
If you do give this mod a chance, I do hope you enjoy it :)

Yeah..it takes skill to plunge the ball perfectly onto the upper playfield, and then get it up the big ramp for the skill shot.
Too much of a plunge, and it's BALL OVER! lol

Awesome, Aaron, thanks a lot. I love your night mods.

I take that as a high compliment, thank you.

You are the King of the NIGHT MODS.
Thank you Aaron for this great MOD.

LOL...i do like darker tables for sure!
Some of these newer tables coming out are already pretty dark, so there won't be any need for me :)

Tonight my wife asked me to come to bed early for sexy times. I told her I couldn't because Aaron released a night mod of whitewater. She plays your CV night mod so she understood.

This made me laugh so hard last night. Very funny! Tell your wife I apologize for her inconvenience! ;-)

Yeah...i agree. It's nice that JP can take a well-deserved break, and other people in the community are really "stepping up" and filling that big gap.
Just look at guys like Herweh, Oldskoolgamer, ICPjuggla, Teppotee, bodydump, hmueck, and many others who are not as seasoned as a JP Salas or Unclewilly, but are regularly knocking out brand new tables.
It's a great season in the VP community!

...pretty much.
JP's original is VERY good, so to not have this mod is quite alright.

Yeah...I've had just a little time here and there.
Been working on TOTAN and WW for some time now. FINALLY got them done.
I've had other "side projects" behind the scenes, so when I was able to get those done, it freed up time for some more night mods and such.

This is awesome Aaron.. Thank you and please keep them coming! :-)

Thanks!...and I sure will :-)

Yes, JP is very kind and gracious to allow someone like me to modify his masterpieces. He's very generous to give me his permission.
Practice does make perfect, and Haunted Mansion isn't out of the question :-)

Nice table, thanks.  FYI: Ball stuck during multiball and couldn't nudge it out:

IMAG0879.jpg

Holy Crap! LMAO
That has never happened to me, that's just real bad luck! haha
If it happens again, PLEASE let me know :)

Good again, unfortunatly white water sounds, especially voices are not that good quality wise. but maybe it was that way in the real pinball as well.

I have to agree about the sounds / voices.
I've played the real pinball table hundreds of times over the years, and it's just the same.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I will say this about this particular mod, I payed very close attention to the playability / realism of this table.
For example, when the ball shoots out of the gold mine vertical up-kicker, if you hold your right flipper up, the ball will roll up to the "river" switch to give you 1 or 2 letters to get to class 6.
This was a pretty constant occurrence on the many different white water tables i've played.

Also, most of the time the ball will spin around a few times in the whirlpool. This was very challenging because if you modify the physics of this table just a bit "off", the ball will not spin at all, and just drop in the hole.
This cost me hours in the making of this mod.

Also, the top flipper is quick enough / strong enough to make the 2 ramp shots consistently, with the flipper oblique correction and angle correct for both shots.
I remember when this table was first released, there were many people who said they felt they just couldn't make certain shots the way the flippers were.
I hope that people have a little bit better experience with this version, as I have played this game many times to make sure all of the shots can be made when aiming correctly.

Cheers!

It should be up in a little bit.

Finally got to play this tonight.

What a masterpiece.

The table plays so good, I forget I am playing a virtual pinball.

Also, it is not overly dark which I love. The inserts really stand out but we can still clearly see all the playfield graphics.

So much so that I would hesitate to even call it a night mod.

You have managed to capture a perfect balance on this table.

Congratulations and well done.

Appreciate the kind words.
This was seriously the darkest I could get the playfield before it looked like sh!t.
Yea, I took some liberties with the light inserts, but IMO they are not over the top.
I'm glad you enjoy the gameplay. To me, that is priority.

Hi, great mod, like always, but I personally think you tweaked plunger too much - I find delivering ball from plunger to upper right flipper (at least on my setup) somewhere between bloody damn annoying and totally impossible - margin of error is too narrow, just a little, little too much force and ball goes directly to play field. Its not so damn hard on real machine and was nicely reproduce at "normal" version of this table.
