You can also try using HyperCam 3 for capturing Visual Pinball. Circo from Hyperspin/Emumovies says its better than camtasia (never tried it personally but I'd trust his word on it).

Yeah - open Visual Pinball editor and launch the table that you want to capture.

 

Then using whatever hotkey you have assigned (or mouse input) start recording the video as the table launches. Let it record as long as you want the clip to be. Then stop the recording, and exit the table.

 

Once back in camtasia (it will take a minute or so to process the capture) you can export the capture to an xvid which I then bring into Avidemux2.

 

The next step is to trim the video (edit and trim to length if needed) in Avidemux2 followed by selecting the audio that you want to use with the video.

 

Export that to xvid/avi again in Avidemux which then you load into Adobe Media Encoder. Once you export from Media Encoder it will save it as f4v format which then you place in your Hyperpin directory under the Table Videos folder named the same as your wheels and backglasses.

 

Oh snap! That's a sweet take on Terminator 2.  Nice song selection.  

 

I still don't have my cabinet done but once I do I plan on starting to download everything I need.  I read through your directions carefully and had a few questions if you don't mind.  When you say you capture the video using Camtasia (I will probably only be playing Visual Pinball).  Do you capture the video by opening the table in Visual Pinball Editor in full screen and simply getting it from there?  

 

Then you muxed the audio file with the video file using AviDemux2. Next you output this (muxed together) to an avi file.   After you encode it do you save it as a .vpt file? And then add this table back to the appropriate folder (table)?

 

Sorry just trying to make sure I got this step correct.  Any chance you could ever do a vid on how you go about to get this done? Probably too much work to capture on video right?

I record videos with sound in Camtasia studio CS6, export them to FLV And finally, I change the extention to f4v



I have about 40 tables ready with sound.

Oh nice! It's impressive to see what you guys have created.  And by created I mean the sound files.  

 

@Javier1515 - for some reason I can view the video.  Says Video is unavailable.  

 

Quick question - for those that have sound on their tables, where do you guys normally find the audio files.  I know many people use different sources like YouTube or personal collection.  Just wondering where the majority find theirs.

I actually don't have enough empty space on my tower to record any video if it takes 5 megs to do

This computer is too full but thanks anyhow

heck  I had to clear out 8 megs of crap just to download my gps maps into it for my garmin gps thingie

and atm I only got about 3 megs of empty space left on it!

I got the idea for this from talking with eortega101 .. and took a clip of the song "For those about to Rock" from ACDC and used that for the HP Preview just to see if it would work .. I know its not perfect and I wouldn't do this for all .. but maybe something like this for just the music based tables. I used a clip from a live recording I found.

 I did not know you could actually have live video feeds or clips in a vp pin

that really changes my mind now on cabs!

A video clip is a video clip regardless if its a movie or live concert or a screen capture of a pinball table. You can choose to make the video whatever you want it to be (so long as you have the proper encode settings for Hyperpin to support it). Heck - you could even have a video of the actual pinball table being played if you wanted to

 

Just remember that its only 1 video per table that you can have (you can't have a random selection of clips displaying).

no no not what I meant sorry for the misunderstanding

 in the vp pin itself it shows the live clip playing as the background

in the cab itself on the play field monitor

 that is what I meant by live video

It was just a different idea to see if anyone else has tried this.. maybe something good will come up from doing this who knows

After finding a clip to use .. I just had to rotate it 90 degrees .. and change the format from FLV to F4V

 

@open6l you could if you mix a few vids/clips together, maybe your own custom intro

 

@faralos hmmm .. but then your table in FS would be in the way of the video you would want in the background ..

YEAH! The video was recorded at the River Plate stadium, one of the best concerts they played according the band , and I was there

Wow, I said it to FT before this could raise the bar to a new level.  I mean, if you think about it your cabinet could be more than just a VP.  It could also provide entertainment when you're playing it.  Showing off music videos/movies/game play while on demo mode.  How cool would that be?  Way to go FT.

Just a quick upload of the work in progress.  I still need a lot of tweaking but hopefully this will turn out ok.  Thanks to Open6I and Fulltilt (and everyone else who commented on this post).  They gave me great idea on how to approach this.  

 

I ended up doing all the work in After Effects and using Adobe Encoder to make it a F4V file.  I still need a lot of work but just wanted to provide a preview.
