I haven't really tried using backglasses so far since I'm on a desktop, so I'm sure I'm just making some sort of noob mistake so bear with me.

 

I'm playing VPW's version of CV and downloaded Hauntfreaks backglass. What I've tried doing so far is manually opening the b2s file and then starting the table. I'm not sure if that's even how you are supposed to do it but I prefer opening my tables this way because I find it easier.

 

I do hear the bell go off every so often but nothing happens inside the backglass. I'm playing on vpx GL 10.8.1 if it matters. Read somewhere that the b2s file is supposed to have the same name as the table so I changed that too but no succes.

Still a noob here myself. But first of all if you did installed the backglass server then there shouldn't be any need to manually start the backglasses. They should load together with tables when you start a table. Ensure the backglass do have EXACTLY the same name as the tables name, exept the ending of course. Second Circus Voltaire is the only DMD table where the display is placed on the upper end of the playfield, and not in the backbox! I do hope this will help you, if not then hopefully some more experienced user can tell you what to do.
