Hi many of you know already I keep busy making 3D models for VP...

I've really been making a collection of projects and doing my best to mow through them and one thing I've noticed that has set me back a few times is resources.  Often resources are limited and if I only have a few pictures to go by this can result in a less accurate model, poor texture mapping etc.  Often someone will come to me part way through a project and present newer, better resources for me to work with which will give new perspective or insight which as a result has often made me go back a few steps and re-do some work for a better end result.

So with that being said,  if you own a real pinball table or know someone who does, and know it has a toy or table element that should really be made into a 3D model, regardless of whether there is a VP table for it currently or if it needs updating or what ever....just get me those resources!

This doesn't necessarily mean I'll be dropping what I'm doing and getting right on modelling what ever you send me, especially if there isn't a table currently being worked on by someone who needs it....but I'd like to gather a collection of resources for future reference.

For instruction on how to take good resource pictures for use in 3D modelling see part way down my post here:

The only pin I own is Demolition Man, but if there is anything you need from that table just let me know.

Some day I will have a lot for you, once I find someone who owns Verne's World and can get me great resource photos. It will be my magnum opus.

Mike brings one to the Chicago Expo every year. If it means that much to you, I'll get you a buttload of pics this year, with the glass off.

Yes! It does! I don't know why, either! I see the Ohio usually has one, didn't know about Chicago (probably the same machine) but I live in the NW so those are all too far for me to see. That would be awesome

If the request lines are open, I'd love to find good pics for Eclipse. Consider it a long distance dedication.  Casey Kasum.

I more or less made this thread to raise awareness, that if people have access to tables and can get resources they need to fork em up! :P

Someone providing good resources could even encourage table authors or artists to start work on them sooner rather than later.

I'd like people to be on the look out for Jurassic Park T-rex resources for me.  It's one of the models on my to-do list I'd really like to see done in the not too distant future.

One person who owned the table PM'd me a while ago saying they'd get me resources but I haven't heard back from him in a while so in the event that falls through I'd like to maybe consider other options.

I may have all my pics for Franky on MSF and the Pole Dancers for Sopranos, but BMiki and JP would already have them too.

If we need better, well I just unpacked MSF and can get to it again after the move.

Also just picked up a nice Nascar.

We have a big show coming up soon and may be able to wrangle up some others if you have a wish list . Then I could check.

I recently got great resources from Loafter for (Sega) Frankenstein so that one's not necessary.

I mean really I'll take anything that could be of use for potential 3D models, off the top of my head JPARK T-rex is right up on the top of my wish list but also I really need good top view photos of the death star from Star Wars to make a texture map with.  Need the photo to be just about perfectly straight down so that in the photo the death star looks like a perfect flat circle - that will make for the best results for a texture map.  Really good front view of death star would probably also help.

Anyone with good GoldenEye resources or Amazon Hunt resources?

I need playfields and plastics, and good pictures at least of GoldenEye, the satellite tank and chopper, and detail pictures of anything you can, even the most mundane object, I want a great picture!

For Amazon Hunt I just need plastics and a playfield. This one will be harder to get I imagine as it's an older machine and kinda rare in that regard...

I'd also be interested in recreating Data Easts Secret Service if anyone came up with great resources for it, as well.

Same with Varkon. I've got a lot of pictures of it but I probably won't do this if I need to redraw the playfields. I've started a redraw but not happy with it and not excited to keep drawing. I already have to do enough photoshop work when I do a build with all the resources available, it just isn't fun to do both the build and the redraw

if you don't mind taking requests, I have 3

unfortunately I'm not sure if the pictures I have are good enough

1.  UncleWiliy has some very nice looking gate covers,  for image consistency I like all the gates to look the same.

I don't know if its possible to modify the existing OBJ file but I included the OBJ file with the pictures.

I need the gate to look like the one in the picture. A a gate with only one mounting post.

Attached File  2.png   815.23KB   14 downloads

2.  The white post under the gate is built from a collection of walls, From the table picture, the post needs to be raised and lowered in various places.

it will be more convenient if it was a primitive.

3 probably the biggest request the 3D Loopty Loop Ramp,  the table is fully playable

http://www.vpforums....showtopic=28311

I have it as a neon green ramp right now,  I'm not sure its possible to build one from ramps.

the only thing I can think of doing is to make a hidden ramp and adding a primitive non functioning 3D ramp.

this is the collection of pictures I have hopefully is enough.

if you need the WIP VPT file for size reference let me know.

@32assassin:

For the Gate cover I'm not clear on what you want to do?  UW's gate looks nice but it's not exactly what you're looking for?  If that's the case I would say the object is simple enough I'd just model it from scratch to match your pictures.

The large ramp that zig zags between the pop bumpers right?

As I've mentioned before I don't exactly like doing 3D ramps, but that doesn't mean I won't do them, my condition however is that you provide me with a very basic mesh ramp made in Future Pinball that has been tested against your VP ramps and has been confirmed to work for Z - height values, in other words the ball doesn't appear to go under the ramp at any part.  You can just make the floor of the ramp matching your VP ramp, that's all I really need since my only real issue with making ramps for VP is the height values.  If you need help exporting the ramp from FP as a mesh to test in VP for height I can help with that (you just need a plugin for blender that allows you to import FP models).  If you can give me the guide, I don't see that ramp being a problem to model.

You can feel free to PM me to discuss this further.

this is what I mean for the gate cover

it needs to loose one of its legs,

the metal that covers the post also needs to be extended.

Attached File  IMG_0887.JPG   51.33KB   14 downloads

I was referring to the upper left metal Loopty loop ramp not the plastic one.

I"m not familiar with the FP editor but I will see if I can build one.

Oh yea that is a complicated ramp, didn't really notice it, it's the craziest ramp I've seen to date lol.  It's hard to tell how it's shaped from just that photo.  If we had measurements of height and incline degrees and so on I could probably figure it out.  But with limited resources I honestly wouldn't feel confident I could deliver a 'working' ramp for this.

Here's the thread that explains how to make use of 3D ramps from FP:

http://www.vpforums....843#entry266526

Though I'm not even really sure FP could do something like that.  That thread can provide insight on how to translate VP values into real 3D values and vise versa though.

I could help with the gates, that much I can say with confidence.

I'm almost finished with a PF redraw but I could use some good pics of the plastics and good pics of the car/garage toy.

No fear, maybe the skull head could be made as a 3D mesh.

I've been thinking No Fear is a table that's still beautiful but could use a minor flasher/lighting update.

Perhaps the terminator skull, and hunter killer toys for 3D models....if you haven't already please see towards the bottom of this post for instructions on how to make best possible photo references for making 3D models:
