Hello,
I recently installed Visual Pinball 10.8 and have been having some weird flipper lag issues. Either right before I launch the ball, or when the ball is near the top of the playfield, the flippers respond almost instantly, just like they’re supposed to.
But when the ball gets near the flippers, where I actually need to use the flippers so I don’t lose the ball, there is lag. On cartoonish games, such as Family Guy or Scooby Doo, it’s not as bad, but on more realistic games such as The Addams Family, as one example, it’s worse.
Once the ball gets near the flippers, where I need to actually use them, when I press the left or right flipper button, it activates the flipper closer to the release of the button than the press of the button, making gameplay virtually impossible.
I have lowered all settings in Visual Pinball 10.8 to their absolute lowest settings, including putting checkmarks in the few boxes that say they’ll give better performance, and that really hasn’t helped much, if any, at all.
Additionally, I opened the NVIDIA control panel and literally went through every single setting, reading every single word that told me what each and every setting does, and set every setting to the highest performance possible, instead of worrying about quality. I lowered the max frame rate, I turned Vertical Sync off, and made several other changes.
Again, none of this made any real difference.
My system is as follows:
AtGames Legends Pinball (HD) in OTG mode with only the Playfield and Backglass monitors. I have no dedicated DMD monitor or any other monitors hooked up.
PC SPECS:
Intel Core i7-8700 CPU
16GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 2080 Graphics Card with the latest drivers installed as of yesterday, and both monitors are set to 1080p at 100% scaling.
1TB SATA SSD Hard Drive with ONLY the pinball emulators, Pinup Popper, and mandatory plug-ins/addons to make everything work. No other programs are installed or opened and all non-Microsoft Services have been disabled.
All of my Visual Pinball tables themselves are actually 10.7 tables. I've tried playing them from within Pinup Popper and with Pinup Popper totally closed and opening/playing the tables directly from the Visual Pinball 10.8 emulator. It makes no difference which method I use.
All other emulators I’ve installed, which are Pinball FX2, Pinball FX3, and Future Pinball, all work just fine with no lag. Only Visual Pinball 10.8 is giving me flipper lag.
I’ve tried everything I know to try, I’ve researched this problem with these nuances, I’ve asked for help from AI, and I simply don’t know what else to do or try, so I’m hoping one of the experts on this forum has some ideas that might help me solve this issue.
Thanks in advance for reading this and for taking your valuable time to respond if you have any ideas or solutions.
