I built a new computer, based on a Ryzen 7 7800X-3D and an MSI 650 MB. Everything ran fine on the old computer. I installed a new copy of Windows 11 PRO, then disabled Windows Defender's real-time protection. Then downloaded the latest Baller Installer from Nailbusters webssite. Went thru the install and played the included Irish table. It works perfectly - and the  backglass appears on the 3rd display as it should.

However, when I load any other VP table, the table and dmd appear and play correctly but the backglass does not get loaded.

I tried deleting the vpinball folder and re installing, but no change. I always check every file and unblock it if blocked. I renamed the backglass file the same name as the table files like we are supposed to.

I'm stuck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

garnel

1. I built a new computer, based on a Ryzen 7 7800X-3D and an MSI 650 MB. I installed a new copy of Windows 11 PRO,

2. then disabled Windows Defender's real-time protection.

3.  I always check every file and unblock it if blocked. I renamed the backglass file the same name as the table files like we are supposed to.

4.  latest Baller Installer from Nailbusters webssite. Went thru the install and played the included Irish table. It works perfectly - and the  backglass appears on the 3rd display as it should.

5. However, when I load any other VP table, the table and dmd appear and play correctly but the backglass does not get loaded.

6. I tried deleting the vpinball folder and re installing, but no change.

1. Nice

2. Not necessary for VPX or Windows-gaming in general. Is that a NailBuster recommendation or something?

3. Good

4. I don't do NailBuster or Baller ... but that sounds pretty good

5. Hmm

6. Sounds extreme if "Irish Table" was working ... was that a ROM-based table with a vPinmame-DMD and a .directb2s for the backglass?

I believe Leprechaun King runs a puppack for the backglass screen, so it's not actually running the B2SServer.  You're B2SServer may not be registered.  Try running the B2SBackglassServerRegisterApp in your B2SServer folder and see what it says.  It will tell you if already registered or register it if not.

Also, I meant to post ... a trick the elders taught me long ago.

Yeah, we all love our Front-Ends (I like PinballY) but when you are setting up a new install or whatever ...

Run VPX by itself and load a table. Whether that works (or not) tells you a lot about your current install and config.

Get that working. Just like one table (working completely on all 3 screens) is a good goal.

A good table is T2 ... it's ROM-based, got a vPinMame 3rd-screen DMD, Backglass on 2nd ... plus g5k's version is awesome!

The Lepraunch table has nothing to do with pinname, DMD, or B2S configuration. It's purely a PUPpack table.

And that's where the big misunderstanding often arises during Baller installation. Only the position and configuration of the PUPpack are done there.

Baller does only the default values of configuration. The fine adjustments—that is, the size and settings of the playfield, DMD, and backglass—must be done manually. Nailbuster still hasn't managed to include this actually quite simple configuration in its setup.

Nevertheless, using the Baller installer is the most reliable method for installing the most important programs correctly.

Take a look into my documentation, link in the footer.

Thanks for the responses. I used the Baller Installer, which seems to contain code a brand new install of Windows 11 PRO doesn't like. So in addition to requiring real-time protection turned off during install - I had to create an Exception for the vPinball folder. Then the backglass server started working. Also made an Exception for the DirectOutput folder.

Thanks again for the responses.

I rechecked everything and nothing was blocked prior to making the exclusions. Anyway, VPX now works as it should.  The 7800X-3d made a noticable performance improvement over the 7600X it replaces.

Thanks to "CoPilot" AI for recommending the 7800X-3D as optimal for virtual pinball - due to VPX requiring good single cpu performance. The much larger (over 3x) cache memery makes the physics calculations faster, as well as eliminating stutter.
