PINBALL ACTION (Tehkan 1985)
Recreation of this beloved 80s multi-table arcade videogame, by JBBolcato.

Includes regeneration of all artwork and audio, plus coding logic in VS script.
Game is complete with all 4 tables (1 main and 3 warp Red Green Blue ones).
This is half height pinball (4/3 vertical video game screen), so for full size cabinets, expect some space at the top!
Also, all the scores and high scores are embedded in the bottom/apron part of the pinball, so the backglass is just for looking pretty - a simple one is included.
Check the media folders for additional goodies like dmd video and topper/wheels.
See rules for details on how to play. (pdf, or ingame/Press R or D)
Enjoy!

Tested only in desktop mode, and cabinet mode 3 screens.
Feedback welcome! This is my very first table, so plenty to learn still.

Many thanks to JPSalas for his advice and support, plus all the amazing Vpinball community for its endless supply of cool tables, programs and tutorials to welcome newbies like me.

Version history:

v1.0 - 24/12/2024 / initial release
v1.1 - 02/01/2025 / Fixed bug with bumpers 100/1000s, and potential highscores saves not working for some.

Thanks for this conversion of the old arcade pinball table game.

You've done a great job.

Four tables united and that with Vpx.

I don't think anyone here has managed to do that yet.

Nice that you have found so many supporters here.

Thanks to all of you for helping jbbolcato with his project.

My greatest respect.

Thanks Haggi for your praise, yeah - not aware of any full table "warps" like this one had to do.

Some tables do feature "sub-tables" that popup, JP & a few others pointed me to those and that was helpful to reassure me it was possible to do.

Hey Scorpion48, didn't lock the script in any special way - just unlock the table in VPX10.8beta - and you can tweak everything!

Table works ok in older VPX, but unsure how well and script may remain locked.

A multi ball mod would be cool!!!

But the original was defo single ball, just multi-table, awkward enough to recreate in VPX tbh.

Merry Xmas everybody!

JBB

Oh weird. Doesn't save... where, locally on your Pc you mean?

Works for me - I just use the usual saving routines of the post'it system, refactored slightly for that game.

So it should create a file called PinballAction.txt in the user subfolder of your Visual Pinball install folder, like most tables.

Or you mean online? I didn't hook it up to anything in the backend...

Good morning friend, I found another little bug....when the bumpers go to 1000 points score, always score only 100 points, please give a look.

Are there actually four different games, or just four color variants?  How are they accessed?

@scoprion48 - v1.1 coming soon with two bugs above fixed! Many thanks for spotting them.

@dan_shane, there are four different games, the main one you start with, and three bespoke ones that you access by hitting all targets of each colour, which in turn opens the R, G, B holes, warping you to those extra table.

Until you lose and and you get brought back to the main table that is.

See the rules pdf, it explains everything.

Thanks for the update.

I did not notice the error.
With me the ball sometimes stays behind the green, blue um'n yellow targets.

As the table does not tilt, the ball can be released again by shaking it vigorously.

Is there a new project planned? :)
