Sorry if I have missed something obvious. Due to my special VPX setup (Windows running in Parallels Desktop on a Mac computer) I think I am not able to get the SteamVR working, which I believe would be the default approach. However, should I be somehow able to get my current VPX installation to work in VR by utilizing OpenVR or OpenXR? If so, what steps should I follow? I would also like to verify, is this the proper link to download the Visual Pinball VR: https://sourceforge.net/projects/vpvr/

Thanks

I noticed that the VR should now be an integral part of the newest VPX versions, why I tried the VPinballX_GL-10.8.0-1947-3b3f101-Release-win-x86. When I ran a table, it again started a SteamVR session, which failed as usual due to Shared IPC Compositor failure. As an alternative, I also installed the the 32-bit opencomposite as described here, but now the VPX is missing a vulkan-1.dll file. I am quite confident that these issues are related to the virtualized Windows, but all possible workarounds are of course welcome. I was also considering to install the stand-alone VPX directly on my Mac outside the Windows virtualization, but it also seems to be tedious. Furthermore, without pretested guidelines I am afraid of that the VR would not work anyhow.

Hi

I don´t know if is the case but, I never could run any table with steam VR. I don´t know why.

Evertime there was any kind of error although I´ve heard a lot of peopleo that works without any problems.

So, in my case a can only run all VR tables fine without any problems with OpenComposite.

How about using openxr ? https://gitlab.com/z...R/-/tree/openxr
You need a program to connect to the pc for the stream. For quest it can be Airlink or Virtual Desktop. VD can be used with other devices as well

331ddabcc742f0ba74791e946eb0f791.gif Try PinballX Database manager as a replacement of PinballX's game list manager
With special thanks to Scutters

Hi

I don´t know if I am a guy with a bad luck

My VR system only works with openvr_api.dll from VPX 10.80 GL 1314 and old OpenComposite files. I made a copy to new VPX 10.80 GL 1975 folder

Other file openvr_api.dll or newest OpenComposite (openXR) does not work in my system. When I try to open a table the VPX close.

So i´m not safe to update any files at moment.

I´m using AirLink

If you are still having issues, no Sourceforge is not the correct place to download VP VR, it has old software and you are correct to grab the RC3 build from Github that you did with your second post, although you should probably update to 64bit as most newer tables require it.....and RC 4 is now available. Using the openvr_api64.dll that comes with the GL.exe build v1947 will require you use Steam VR. You did not say what headset you are using but to run without steam you would need the new .dll from Gitlab (Mike posted a link, scroll down to "per game installation) to replace the one that comes with the GL build and rename it to openvr_api64.dll (with a 64 in the name) if running 64 bit. Then Virtual Desktop (the standalone version) and it's streamer with the OpenXR Runtime set to VDXR. That said, I don't know if any of this will work with your "Special VPX Setup" :)

Thank you very much. I think I advanced a little. I now tried the latest VPinballX_GL-10.8.0-1975-051104c-Release-win-x86.zip (I remember someone saying the x86 could be more stable or similar, but I could remember wrong). Then as you said I downloaded the new openvr_api.dll from Mike's link above. Then I installed the Virtual desktop streamer, set the OpenXR Runtime to VDXR, but the Virtual Desktop itself came from the Steam. It was the only source I was able find at the moment, and I think it might be wrong, because it always launches the SteamVR which fails as usual. However, when I start the VPX, at least I am not seeing the vulkan dll issue anymore. But how should I continue, another download link for the Virtual Desktop perhaps? I am still a little bit lost with these multiple software, like what purpose do they serve, or at least what is the actual starting order and so on. And oh yeah, I have Nreal Air glasses. They have worked great with the VPX in the static side-by-side 3D mode. I am able to get the 3DOF head tracking into the Windows using the PhoenixHeadTracker. I am also able to forward the 3DOF motion information forward into the Opentrack, but I am not sure are these two software needed at all. The PhoenixHeadTracker is able to output Opentrack UPD, or directly move mouse on the screen. Anyhow, I would first like to get the Virtual Desktop approach without the SteamVR into its defaults state. Then if I could see some signs of VR life, I could start to hassle with the head tracking. Many thanks to all your kind help!

Is this the so called stand alone Virtual Desktop? https://www.meta.com...17050365004772/

Ah, that might explain it, the standalone version is the version you purchase through the Oculus Headset without being attached to the PC, the PC App is different. Trying to do what you are doing, you might have a better chance using the .dll that comes with the builds and going through Steam. I may be totally off here as I don't know squat about hooking up types of glasses that you are trying (I am Oculus only), but if you do figure it out I would love to hear about it.

Feel free to join our VR Pinball Discord and ask around but I don't think anyone is using AR Glasses, would be cool though. https://discord.gg/G2E8QAtz86

Okay thanks, now I might also have a little bit better sense how the typical VR setup should work. Correct me if I am wrong, but in your setup the Virtual Desktop Streamer, running on your PC, sends the VPX into your VR glasses, in which the "standalone" Virtual Desktop captures it and displays it? What I would need is to get two Full HD images side by side, the left image for the left eye and right image for the right eye (the whole view is disproportionally wide, but the Nreal Air glasses know how to divide the wide image for different eyes). I need to digest this, all ideas are welcome. I am afraid of that the project will hit the wall, either due to the SteamVR failures or the lack of vulkan dll.

I now installed the Oculus PC in the Windows, as the Virtual Desktop Classic says on Steam "VR Support: SteamVR or Oculus PC". Yet when I start the Virtual Desktop it still launches the SteamVR, and I haven't found the setting to change the VR support, so far. And btw, I currently have almost no clue what I am doing, just trying different stuff by intuition to blow some life in the VR :D

I believe the Oculus PC App only works with Oculus devices. But in order to change the OpenXR Runtime between Steam and Oculus, go into the Oculus PC App, choose device/settings/general....or you could download the XR Runtime Picker found at Github.

Which version of windows did you use? On a M1 mac?
