"DMD" Problem with Two-display Cabinet

DMD cabinet display PinMAME

Best Answer wiesshund , 23 December 2020 - 12:51 AM

hit F1

check cabinet mode

now VPM will remember what you do it it

I would suggest running pinmame setup.exe

and click defaults, and make that the default option for all roms.

that way any new roms you add will adopt that from the start

For the past couple of months, I've been working on a two-display VP cabinet. That's a long, drawn-out story in its own right, but only tangential to my query.

I have a number of VPX tables installed on my cabinet, and I'm having an issue with any board that uses the default DMD that comes with PinMAME (Party Zone, Scared Stiff, Medieval Madness, et al). When the board first starts up, the DMD display is in the upper right corner of the playfield (when I'm looking at the playfield in the cabinet orientation). I'll click on and move the DMD to the second monitor (backglass) and position it just so (albeit rather small... anyway). When I exit the game, then go back in it, the DMD now appears in the bottom middle of the playfield monitor (again, orientation), causing me to drag it back to the backglass monitor to position it again.

Is there a way to have PinMAME's DMD remember its position on each board so the DMD appears where it's supposed to in the backglass monitor?

By the way, I have no idea if I have "UltraDMD" or not. It's just the basic DMD that PinMAME provides.

Thank you very kindly for any help.

Fantastic! That was just the info I needed. The DMDs are right where they need to be. Thank you very kindly!

Now all I have to do is puzzle out how to get them to be a little larger, but at least they work for the time being.

VPM DMD's right click and pick show borders

then drag the them like a normal window

now before right clicking and turning off borders, drag DMD away from where you want it a little bit
now turn off borders, then drag it to where you want it to remain, and it should remember that, as long as cabinet mode is checked.

External DLL DMD's you just grab the bottom right corner and size it
then right click and choose to save globally or save for table name
