File Name: Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball VPX Demo

File Submitter: McSquid

File Submitted: 27 Apr 2020

File Category: VPX Originals

Author(s): Ryan McQuaid
Permission to MOD?: No

This is the playable demo for my homebrew machine Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball. It is a physical machine that is being programmed in MPF, but I made a playable demo out of the VPX prototype I used to design the game. The code is very basic, as I knew I would be scrapping it all to transition to MPF but the main gameplay loop and progression are functioning.

One thing I love about VP is to see machines being re-created to their former glory. Taking care of history and all that. But, homebrew is to me, considered just the same. So, I appreciate that you chosen to share your machine with us. Thank you, congratulations and good luck with the rest of the build. As gamemodder says, would love if you come back and update the table so it reflects the project as much as possible.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

Yes I will do that.

The code will not be updated unless the MPF -> VPX bridge becomes super easy to set up so I can release MPF code. Again, I stopped coding the VPX demo because I knew I was going to have to scrap it to change to MPF anyways. However I will do my best to get the full game released here at some point. as it sits it would require about an hours reading and configuring for people to get it running properly.

Here is the latest preview for the real game code

Im amazed at what you have accomplished here. At the end of the day even if the mature code doesnt make it into the straight VPX version it looks perhaps like it will be a lot of fun to play. Maybe someone can spruce up the VPX only code someday (with your permission of course)

Strictly speaking of the design, that upper loop thats achievable right from the plunge is something else. Excellent job
