File Name: Disney's Aladdin (TBA 2020)

File Submitter: ivantba

File Submitted: 28 Jan 2020

File Category: VPX Originals

Flash 62
Permission to MOD?: Unspecified

Aladdin, which debuted in 1992, was based on One Thousand and One Nights, a huge blockbuster hit. Not only was it screened in cinemas with a large audience, but many cartoon fans have come close to this Disney classic.
Other parts were made, so it became a trilogy. It also got a remake version to suit the age. But classic always stays classic ...
The sumptuous background music, the star cast that lent the voice of the fairy tale characters, further enhanced the film's mood. I wanted to make a tribute pinball table, evoking memories.

Video of the gameplay:

Important note: the contents of the music library (mp3 file) are placed in the following folder: Visual Pinball\Music
So, a complete multimedia package is included with the compressed file. Among others, the backglass (directb2s) file. PinballX desktop and cabinet files (audio, pictures, flyers, instruction cards, wheel, etc.)

Original (my resource) table:
Seawitch (Stern) v1.0
Author(s): Flash 62
Thank you very much to Flash 62 for allowing me to modify, re-theme his superb tables!

You can find the necessary rom file to start the table here (seawitch.zip):

Just downloaded it, and I'm having an issue I can't resolve : I'm using a Two screen + DMD cabinet, so I modified the orientation.

However the EM Reels keep being displayed on top of the table, even though on the backglass options they should be outside. I can't obviously remove them (otherwise I believe I lose the scoring), but anyway I can prevent that behaviour ?

Thanks and regards

Hello Ashram56!

I only play in desktop mode, but I always test them in FS mode. So suddenly, only the following things come to my mind:

- Go to line 75 and change Hidden = 0 to 1.
- Click on the backglass while running, and the pop-up "visibility" settings will enable or disable B2S, standard DMD / Grill features.

I don't know if these will help you.

No changes… Note that I can move around each EM Reel individually (all 4 scores, ball). In the task switcher they appear as VPX Subprocess called "Virtual alphanumeric display"... I'm quite puzzled, this is the only table with EM Reel and this behaviour

Regards

This is really interesting as the source table not using an EM reel, but a 7-digit rom display for this board. Line 854 can be interesting. "JP's Led Display Code adjusted for 7 digits." Maybe I have another suggestion: try the Seawitch board created with our Flash62 forumfellow. Does the source table have this phenomenon? Or maybe you can write to him in this issue.

Take a look at this and note the yellow circle around the "seawitch" (rom name) image.  It's very weird, because this shows up in the table and also I'm running into the same issue on the Cool Spot 7UP table, which displays the same thing except that it's the "princess" (rom name) image.

Any ideas where this is coming from?  It comes up whether I'm in popper or not.  Thanks.

I suspect this issue has something to do with setting the popper settings to Apron only, and turning DMD/Topper off.  This issue never arose prior to that.  No one has any ideas?

@Conehead - I bet the image you're seeing is from the backglass. If you right click on the backglass when the table is playing, a menu will pop up. One of the settings on this menu is "B2S DMD" - you want to select "Hidden" (instead of "Visible") to get rid of the image you're talking about.

DMDs cover up the B2S DMD images in popper. So if you've turned those off, that explains why you're seeing it now.

Hopefully that helps.

That did the trick...THANK YOU!  The same issue is arising with Cool Spot 7Up and Aliens as well so I'm sure that's the same solution.  I'm going through each of my tables and I'm sure I'll run into it again, so thanks again!
