File Name: Future Spa (Bally 1979)

File Submitter: jpsalas

File Submitted: 10 Oct 2017

File Category: VPX/VPinMAME Recreations

Author(s): jpsalas
Manufacturer: Bally
Year: 1979
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

Based on the Bally table from 1979.
The table is based on my VP9 table, but I have enhanced some of the graphics. Still the playfield is not a complete redraw, but it is nicer than the old one :)
Remember to press F6 to set some defaults.

The table is a wide body. I have set up the FS settings so it looks nice in my monitor, but feel free to post other settings you may feel works better. In 1.0.1 the settings are the ones suggested by hauntfreaks.

Actually only 4 days, I was in holidays in Dublin from Sunday to Thursday :) Two days drawing (mostly cut & paste), one day building the table, and one for the script :)

I had planned to redraw the plastics in vector format but the source materials were not so good.

Very glad to see this one recreated for VPX and released.

Best Regards,

Nice one! Got to play this table outdoors in the middle of a field at 2 AM at Pinagogo last year. A surreal experience!

Thanks, JP.

Thanks for all of your great tables! Is there any chance of you bringing Scarface over to VPX?

Thanks JP for another quick and great release, you are a machine like me :)

here are few fixes for you, notably the leftslinghot switch is not 33 but 35

Sub LeftSlingShot_Slingshot

    PlaySound SoundFX("fx_slingshot", DOFContactors), 0, 1, -0.05, 0.05
    DOF 103, DOFPulse
    LeftSling4.Visible = 1
    Lemk.RotX = 35
    LStep = 0
    vpmTimer.PulseSw 35
    LeftSlingShot.TimerEnabled = 1
End Sub

With plungerIM
        .InitImpulseP sw28, IMPowerSetting, IMTime
        .switch 28
        .Random 0.3
        .InitExitSnd SoundFX("fx_popper",DOFContactors),SoundFX("fx_popper",DOFContactors)
        .CreateEvents "plungerIM"
    End With

Cheers ;)

This one play so great, JP. I love that your tables usually feature unique sounds for every surface with which the ball comes into contact. Really adds to the realism. The physics on this one are great -- especially with regard to the way the ball reacts to rubbers .Lots of bounce. The layout of this table design causes the ball to move in really unique patterns. So much fun! Thanks!

In the editor, click on the options button. Under the ball tab, search for JPball or something like that. It should be there in that drop down menu. Select it.

Back in the day there was a bowling alley near me that had a Future Spa table which I really enjoyed playing (one of my favorite wide bodies). I do remember they modified the table by putting a rubber over the right drain where the pop bumper is so the only way to lose the ball was down the middle or the left outlanes. Thanks for the great recreation.
