File Name: Embryon (Bally 1980)_6_7_digit.directb2s.zip

File Submitter: Dozer316

File Submitted: 24 Sep 2013

File Category: dB2S Animated Backglasses

Author(s): Dozer316 - Teamtechnic.
Artwork by the Flying Dutchman.
Manufacturer: Bally
Year: 1980

Authentic Backglass - Bally Embryon (1980).

This archive contains two directb2s files, one for the 6 digit and one for the 7 digit rom.

Backglass was made as authentic as possible based on Youtube videos.

Both files started off with the base provided by Teamtechnic however I reverted the font back to match the original as closely as possible
and removed the added lamps to maintain an authentic look.

Based on the original readme, the original artwork was provided by The Flying Dutchman but remastered by Teamtechnic so many thanks to both
those folks.

Both files were saved using Directb2s designer 1.25 so please make sure you're using the latest directb2s server version.

(Note) - I am currently using the directb2s server provided with the DOF beta and during testing found that I had to run this backglass in non .exe mode otherwise the tilt light would act erratically.
Herweh has mentioned that this was not an issue using his current server version so if you notice the tilt light staying on at the start of the game and you are running the backglass in exe mode, simply change to .dll mode and the problem should go away.

Thanks :)

I don't have the issue with tilt and exe mode though, using DOF of course

Press F6, check the switches 27 and 28 (hopefully I remember correct) and then press F3. And maybe check switches 25 and/or 26 to be able to add more credits than 10.

hit "F6" while in the game and make sure you check 23 and 27. for Credits and ball in play.

FYI Dozer Im in EXE mode and do not have the TILT issue either.

Edit: Herweh, is a faster typist than me. ;)

I had the same credit/ball display issue even with dips 27/28 on.  The fix was to get the correct 7-digit rom (embryond) and update the game script to reference that rom. (add the "d" to the end of embryon)

I tried using embryond. Using that rom does, indeed, bring back the credits display properly.Problem is that using that rom changes it back to a 3 ball game. If any table needs 5 balls, it's this one! I looked in the tutorial on how to change the number of balls in a Bally game and it said to use F6 and then check the block for the  number of balls that I want. Only problem is--there is no such thing to check off. All I see are dip switches.

Heya Bob, check DIP switch 31 and press F3 and everything is fine :-)

Herweh,

How do you know what the DIP switches are defined as? Is this is the real Embryon manual?

Thanks Herweh--that did it!  And Z had a good question. How do you know what the dip switches do?

Yeah, normally all these necessary info is in the manual. Check out page 6 of the manual and you can see infos about the "Balls in game" switches.

Here it was even easier: The code lolo33 posted a few posts above was very helpful with this line

.AddFrame 210,2,190,"Balls per game",&H40000000,Array("3 balls",0,"5 balls",&H40000000)'dip 31

And here a few lines of the manual where you can get this info:

Didn't know about those manuals. I googled and ended up at ipdb. Is that your usual source? Thanks again

Yes generaly ipbd is a good source.

In the download section you can find a Dipswitch Script Files with Code for many Bally, Gottlieb, Stern tables.

If you put the code (posted a few posts above) in the script of the table, and when you press F6 you have this:

Very nice.     I don't see the word "Match" under Match/Ball in play box if the match feature is active.    Is it suppose to be there?    Great work on the backglass.    Thanks for developing it.

lolo33,

Is there a particular place you put that code and do you take anything out?

Paste it at the very end of the script. Nothing to take out.

Yes, just copy and paste it at the very end.
