Hi all,

I don't believe the amount of negative comments I've read on these forums regarding pinball fx 2.

You have to take the game for what it is. Yes, the flippers are too close together, and yes, the slingshots are too weak, but the graphics and table rules are just amazing. I think the physics are pretty good, and you get some realistic angles from the flippers. I know some people are reluctant to put steam on their cab, but they should do what I do and use a separate drive or partition. The leaderboards just keep you coming back for more. I have a number of global top scores on some of the tables, regaining top scores are so satisfying. The screen can be rotated in game for cab views, and nudge buttons configurable. Moving the DMD to a second screen is supposed to be coming.

If you haven't already, I recommend you at least give it a try, and play the free table Sorcerers Lair and make sure you look up the table guide for the table rules. It makes the tables so much more playable.

Thanks for reading.

Totally agree been using it for some weeks now and whilst I will always play vp tables this makes a welcome addition to my cab setup.

I think it is mostly because of the "video game" table designs with all the flying objects and that unreal stuff ;)

Once there is full cab support then I will certainly give it a go again, but no backglass and a stuck dmd are deal breakers right now.

Steam is a no go for me for certain, but there are ways around that.  They are fun tables, but I agree with the comment that it's probably all the unreal stuff in the games that is hard to take.  I only want realistic looking and playing tables in my pinball cab.  ( although I do let a puff of smoke or an electrical discharge slip through on occasion just cause the table look so cool)

I do plan to rework my MAME cab and add flipper buttons to it. That way it can play the more video game looking pins like these and I won't be hearing people tell me how unrealistic the cab is because it looks like a video game.

But they are all video games... If its fun I play it... I really don't mind that it plays more like an arcade game plus it gives me a chance to hit the ball around for awhile lol

I really enjoy them on the cab its well worth it. I would recommend them to anyone.

But they are all video games...

True, but playing most of the VP/FP tables that have came out in the last year or so you might think they were real steal. I still expect the ball to smack the glass every now and then.

You'll get negative comments on everything. People just love to argue endlessly.

Just ignore it and have fun.

I downloaded these tables, first time playing ever, just from the sale the other day.

Yes, there is no BG currently, yes DMD is on main PF and can be moved.

Whoever says anything negative is insane. These tables are incredible. The physics are extremely fun, animations are outstanding, and kids play for hours without complaining. Also, the scoring and highscoring features are awesome.

It is hilarious...when a table is old and boring with no bells and whistles people bypass them for downloading....when they are masterpieces, they still bawk.

I am looking at the future potential of this program... BG eventually to come and DMD support, plus ability to add tables as they are created....yeah, terrible deal i guess :)

Cheers,

Maceman

EDIT: BTW- I wonder if we can somehow figure out what the table angles are set at because they are perfect for me!!! I wish i could duplicate it in VP or FP. Makes the tables much easier to view in a cab setting.....

I really don't understand why Pinball FX don't make their DMDs full colour with a much higher resolution.  Y'know, like Pro Pinball did 17 years ago!

I hope they arn't adopting Stern's policy of "If it sells, why change anything?"

For FP Bam gives you the ability to have basically any angle/perspective you want, so pretty sure you can find your sweet spot.

Yeah, PBFX2 is one of my favorite games of all time.  To me it's the perfect blend of real pinball mechanics and cool stuff only possible in a video game.

I can't believe the number of people (especially on the Steam forums) who probably play for a few seconds and then go and post threads about how the physics are bad.  The physics are actually excellent, it's just that the tables are designed differently because they don't need to eat your quarters.  Games tend to be longer but with more complex missions/modes.  I guess it would be a little bit of an adjustment if you've played a ton of real pinball - the flipper angles, flipper gap, rubber condition and slingshot strength are a bit different, but then again those vary across real tables, too.  Funny how those same people never notice those things.

I play and enjoy real table recreations, too.  I don't get why some people don't seem to think there is room for more than one type of pinball game.  Variety is one of the advantages of pinball video games over real life tables (along with cost, size and maintenance).

I believe they may vary by table, but there is a full operator's menu where you can adjust things like slope.  I haven't messed with it much because I want my scores to count for the leaderboards.

I'm not a purist, and I like recreations as well as Zen's stuff. Only a few of their tables got too crazy for my taste with overly distracting stuff flying everywhere - Infinity Gauntlet comes to mind. Tesla is probably my favorite. Hopefully we'll get cab/dmd support someday.

I play it quite a bit on the PS3 because it supports 3D and it looks great.  I have all of the tables on both the Ps3 and 360.  Not worth it to me though to buy them all again on the PC.

I really like the ROME table. Has just the perfect mix of animation and such.

My feet get sore fast from cab standing, so i can only go in small sessions :)

cheers,
