File Submitted: 20 Apr 2013

Manufacturer: Bally
Year: 1980
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Unspecified

The first of several unfinished outstanding projects, I'm particularly pleased with how this one has turned out after such a long absence. Several new techniques are premiered with this table:

* New texture-based posts, bright targets, glows, surface shines and reflections, while retaining complete angle-indepence with every object on the table.

* Acti-Flip Sound Dynamics (version 1) - the next level of VP sound physics. Ball rolls, surfaces and flippers that all respond to varying degrees of ball speed and types of collision, producing the widest array of realistic physical sound effects on any table to date.

* Custom dampening - ball speed is automatically capped to an acceptable level, while leaving the plunger shot unaffected. Flippers with a greater power level can be used for more effective centre shots while flyaway rebound flips are greatly reduced.

* Realistic kicker saucers - a ball hitting a saucer too strongly will lip over the top with an audible rattle, and continue at a greatly reduced speed.

Thanx Eala. Funny, I just turned the cab off after loading up new tables and such for 4 hours.....

Now my feet are sore from standing so will have to wait until next time, but very grateful none-the-less!!

Thanks for the FS conversion.

This looks like a first class build.

I have a big soft spot for the late 70'/early 80' tables. Really looking forward to trying this one out

well, the ball stuters are back for me... :/

all is fast, but the little freeze/jump in the ball movements are there for sure

surelly its linked with my system power (as the desktop works like a charm on the other computer) and something in the script (your "sounds" cheat-check ?)

lets wait more feedback from others ;)

Nice work! I added this to my cab and it plays great! No stutter, no problems at all. Its VERY fast!

For better display in a cab setting I would recommend:

* removing the WC-Ball image and using another one or the default ball in vp915.

* removing the lockbar and hiding the rails with these settings. We already have rails and a lockbar on our cabs.

   0.1,65,95,270,1.56,2.4,-270 and -465

The directb2s backglass has been released too, so I'd highly recommend cab owners to install that too.

Thanks again for a great recreation.

Good point about the rails/lockdown bar - I'll bear that in mind for future releases.

Great table. Looks and plays terrific. I noticed something though. The table does not award an extra ball on second drop of target bank. I looked at the rom settings on F6 but I didn't see where it could be adjusted (unless I missed it). Any ideas?

I created this & shared it in the desktop thread, I'll post it here too.  Most of the default settings for me were all wrong, so I went through the manual & set everything to factory settings.  Here is my nvram...

Thanks Eala, excellent table. It plays great and the mechanical sounds seem to be so true to a real table, I don't think there is another one with this level of sound details.

I noticed that when the outlanes have a SPECIAL opportunity, it gets awarded when the ball goes through the unlit lane.

Anyone else had this happen?

Perhaps enable "Adaptive VSync" in VP option.

It helped me to avoid little freeze/jump in the ball movements.

This table is great, thanx Eala.

I though I had a problem with stutter when I first tried it a minute ago through hyperpin giving me an average of 124fps. So tried without HP and still pretty low for VP anyway, 250fps, but plays fine no stutter. So I re tried with HP and got the same 250fps. Maybe it was the first boot of the table, strange, but it's good now. Cheers

It turns out this is easy to fix, just little typos in the script.

Go to line 1014 and 1030 where light14 and light30 are set. The numbers are mixed up in these two lines.

Change line 1014 to

Set Lights(14) = Light14'left outlane special

and line 1030 to

Set Lights(30) = Light30'right outlane special

Thanks for the fix. I noticed there seems to be a similar error on line 1026:

Set Lights(26) = Light44'orange arrow

and line 1044:

Set Lights(44) = Light26'arrow countdown left & right bonus

Should these be adjusted as well?

Probably :) - but I suppose it's Eala who can answer this best.

Edit: It's confirmed (based on testing), those two lines should be changed as well. Thanks for the heads-up.

Just tried this change. Something's not right. The orange arrow for 5000 points in top saucer is always lit in error. I put the previous values in and the arrow light functions properly.

Hm... I didn't notice that but you're right... I thought that the countdown at the left saucer for the left and right bonus was swapped before I made the change but I reset these lines as they were and it turns out I was mistaken. Sorry for the confusion.

So only lines 1014 and 1030 should be changed.
