Hello all, looks like some great progress on this feature Macro! ![]()
am trying to run the v1 dll with a 12v Vishay plasma DMD. It works but I'm seeing bad ghosting on the display, literally two images nearly side by side, very odd...
Russ, have you had chance to try this on your Vishay plasma DMD?

Looks like i'm ordering the Vishay DMD as it seems to be the most popular option and with its mounting holes its sized fairly well it should be trivial to replace my current LCD screen. Is there any doubt regarding compatibility with the DLL, pinDMD2 and the Vishay DMDs ? Is there any reason that I should consider something other than the Vishay DMD ? I see there's some work being done on an all color DMD... Even Blue DMDs...
I know it seems a bit OT, but really this new DLL and the ability to use Future Pinball with a 3rd screen is * the only * reason I want to purchase the pinDMD2 and a compatible DMD.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hey thewool
no i have not tested this yet on a plasma, very strange how it would act this way just on plasma firmware. ill give it a go when i got a bit of spare time. im sure we can sort it out

So I went through a number of FP tables experimenting and getting it working in different tables. Having never really done much with scripts in FP it took a few tries to get it right.
WIth the original dll, it seems like it will work for awhile, then when you exit and start another game it won't work until you remove power to the pinDMD. (This also happens if you accidentally send the HUD DMD to it instead of the Translite DMD). For being an initial release it works remarkably well. I did notice some stuttering in a few tables when there is a lot of data being passed to the dmd. (Like in Goonies during a few of the bonus countdowns).
I also noticed that in the Newer (original) Nightmare on elm street, the DMD works, but there are certain animations that do not show up...just an example of something not quite right. For the most part, every table I ran ran great as long as I changed the DMD to be 128x32.
For those on the fence...this is just one more reason to get a real DMD for your cab. It is amazing.

so you say that each time you start a new table you have to unplug the DMD?
No..for the most part that did not happen. You could load a table, play it, exit, load another table and play it. It was just that on occasion it would randomly stop working and the only way to get it to work again was to power it down. I'm guessing it's just some issue with the early code at the moment. I don't have that issue on VP tables.

sounds like the ftdi handle is not been released some times so when it goes to connect again its already in use?

Sounds like it could just be the famous memory leak in FP. Does it ever happen if you exit FP completely and the restart with another table.?
I know textures can go missing if you don't exit completely out of FP before launching the next table.

Sigh... does anyone sell a ready made kit for plug and pray/play installation? ie: LEZWiz Board, some LEDS, cabling and a power supply if required?
Something I want to note from the video above is I love the idea of putting the lights under and behind the cab. I always found videos of the LEDs on the side of the cab a little distracting (though there is nothing like seeing it in person, I agree) but the leds under/behind gives it a different feel that goes with the entire vpincab thing. I dunno, am I alone?
