Just loaded up VPX8 beta build and it seems to work fine but...when I double click a table file it opens VPX8 plus another select file screen instead of the table I just double clicked, which I find slightly annoying.

I had the same issue with VPX 10.7.2 but was able to modify something so when you double click the file name it directly starts the table.  For the life of me I can't remember how i did that, I thought I wrote the process down but I guess not.  I don't think it was overly complicated but I may have gone into the registry and changed something there.

If anyone can let me know how to modify VPX8 to have the table start directly after double clicking the file I would be grateful.

Thanks.

I think you will find the setting in Preferences..Editor UI Options.

Uncheck "Start VP with File dialog open". and see if that helps.

Thanks for the response xenonph, tried that to start with and it does not work.

Checking the "Start VP with File Dialog open " box opens the file dialog box within VPX8 but does not directly open the table, you still have to select your table from a drop down list that you already double clicked to get VPX8 to start.

Unchecking the "Start VP with File Dialog open" box starts VPX8 but does not start the table file that was double clicked nor does it open the file dialog box within VPX8.

Somethin' else needs to be done, but still can't remember what it is though...

Hey guys! I love the vpx8!!! But:
Can we please get a slider option next to the global enable automatic day/night cycle checkbox to change the intensity of the day/night shift? That would help so much!!!

Thank you!

Is there a way to start 10.8 directly into the POV edit mode?  Thinking about how to go about creating an alt run mode from the front end to load a table directly into the view edit mode.

Hi, I had the same issue and I have fixed it by changing registry key. If I remember correctly (it was some weeks ago), there was missing parameter for VPinballX64.exe in shell/open/command key. I just copied definition from VPinballX key and it started working.

I am at work now but I could post screenshot later this evening so that you can see what I have done

Thanks Milos, that would be great.  I was thinking it had something to do with the registry.

For a some reason, I cannot post picture of my registry key so I have uploaded it to https://imgur.com/K54sK93

-play parameter was missing for me. After I have added it, it started working as it should

As my old grandma used to say on Thursday nights at the community centre - BINGO!.

That was exactly where I revised the registry setting for VPX 10.72 to have the table start directly upon double clicking the filename.

I just made a slight revision to your string, I removed -ExtMinimized so when I shutdown the table, the VPX8 editor stays on the screen and I can either pick another table or close VPX8 altogether.  Otherwise it will minimize VPX8 to the tray (which I have hidden) and all the games I've played that session are stacked there, which I don't want.

So thanks Milos for jogging the old cobwebs, another example of this great community of knowledgeable, helpful members.

Also, thanks for the "nudge" Wiesshund, I'm pretty sure it was you who helped me with the registry entry for VPX10.7.2.  Your technical knowledge is unsurpassed.

Oh but it is.
You have time to review a list of all my stupid mistakes?

What's the deal with 10.8?? I had 1,400+ vpx tables working under 10.72.

Under 10.8 they sometimes loose focus and load the editor on top of the table.

Every time I play a table in 10.8 it changes the theme to Windows 7 basic.

Of course I don't have a cursor to click the table with and give it focus so I have to do it blindly....

I'm using VPinballX_GL-10.8.0-1347-3d585e7-Release-win-x86

I'm running a Ryzen5 2600 with a 1050ti and 16gb of ddr4 ram under Windows 7. What am I missing?

Not sure to be honest.
In general those are NOT the normal experiences.

VPX does not directly ask to do anything to do with windows themes, so i am not sure what might trigger that at all

Aside from vpx, b2s and vpinmame, what all else do you have running?

do these issues happen if you do Not run anything else, except vpx?

Anyone getting any tables locking up to where can't be close? Had to sign out of Windows in order to force close it. I couldn't get the table screen to go away as well. Task Manger hidden behind it.

For example. Cosmic (Taito do Brasil - 1980) v4 and Zephy (LTD - 1982) v4 will lock up on Windows 11 Home.

VP X85. Most of the X tables is fine.

I get that with vpinmame tables. EM tables are ok, it seems.

Option 1: Hit the Windows button to minimize the game. Hit the X on the game to exit out. Seem to be working this way.

Option 2: Another way to close the table while it is running. Just exit the VPX alone to kill it. Leave the game running. VPX will shut it down.

==============================================================

Yeah its the vpinmame issue. Probably a leak somewhere or something is broken. Probably need to be deep checking on the source and core.

Would be nice if VPX have an button option to where it force close the VPX down.
