Just remember, this is the Internet, folks!

Much can be read into posts that isn't there, and people say the darnedest things when there's a language barrier!

I'll move this topic later today, so the devs will have full moderation authority in the development topics. If someone does piss them off, they can just 'mute' them.

They are doing our community too great a service to feel disrespected, IMO.

Indeed back to the topic! Much Much more interesting :dblthumb:

If socially inept members keep chiming in with disregard to the other devs feelings regardless of how "childish" they think they are, there will be no more topic to get back on.

This is very unfair because I remember that I was insulted a lot because of some physmods and the main argument was disrespect. Isn't it the same towards mukuste?

The physmod scenario and this one are similar.    When people who had authored tables indicated that they were unhappy with you modding them and making them available for release you said that the argument was childish.  When you asked the question about making sure Mukuste and other devs had sorted out the issue the tone of your question diminished the contribution of the other developers.   When you are made aware of that, you argue that it's childish.

What's childish is not having the humility to respect some one else's feelings regardless of whether you agree with them.

Quoting me and talking about socially inept says more about you than it does about me. I just Agreed on Fuzzel's words.

You totally forget to mention that most tables were free to mod and the other ones were tables I was involved in. What if I cancel my approval only because I'm offended? That would be childish, too. The real problem were people who puff up and used the topic for their hate sermon. It's interesting that the word respect is interpreted by will.

There is not any intention to insult anybody here, certainly not the devs. People adding their comments on this started the insultation.

I think we are beating a dead horse. This thread is about  feedback related to the beta. This drama is not serving any purpose other then pissing people off. Please do not respond to this comment. Just end it. If you must still talk about it, do it in a Private message.

I just added a visible property to em reels, so that you can disable the rendering in the editor and/or script.

Thanks Toxie. You rule. That's going to be super helpful.

I had a quick question- it didnt seek like this was asked anywhere or was evident in the documentation. how are vertical upkickers managed in vp? in the implementation I saw that there are float kicker options...is this related? Ideally i'd like to use vuk without destroying balls :)

Sub KickerVUK_Hit
TimerVUK.Enabled=1
End Sub

Sub TimerVUK_Timer
KickerVUK.Kick 0,20,1.57
TimerVUK.Enabled=0
End Sub

I put a timer to prevent the ball is launched immediately.
The inclination of the launch is in radians, 1.57 is a launch perfectly vertical.

In VPX the value 1.57 does not work, bug, a lower value as 1.55 should work.

Should that be KickZ to kick vertical?

On the VUK topic, I would like to bring this up again.  The kickers seem to store some ball momentum.  I would think that momentum should diminish to zero after a second or two so that the kicker will always kick consistantly in the direction/power desired.  I realize in the real world there is some variance, but this is software and we should have to tell it to have a variance if desired.  And this behavior is not random is seems directly related to the speed/direction the ball hits the kicker.

Here is my example.  Just launch the ball and let it drain.

Okay here is an odd one. Without changing any settings sometimes a certain table will cause my monitor to loose signal (like it kicks the video into an unsupported mode).  When this happens I have to force shutdown my PC.  It happens on table play but not every time.  I just decided that I would try playing with the editor so for the first time in VP10 I selected new and when I hit play boom "No Signal"  Never had this happen before any thoughts?

Shadowclassic: hmm strange can be a driver issue but hard to tell haven't experienced anything like that yet...

btw rev1675 is up:

- reset angularvel/momentum on kick out
- increase tesselation of ball and replace edge falloff hack for ball with texture lod tweak
- edge falloff for ball to reduce aliasing a bit
- update em reels
- Add visible property to em reels

Fuzzel - quick question off topic. Id like to start building tables.  I know VERY LITTLE at this point about it. Question is - should I learn on VP9 or just start into VPX? Thanks!

I'll recommend to start it on VP9: VPX has many more details (especially slingshots and walls), and then, it's better to consider VPX for a laboured VP project

This happened to me a while back. Turned out to be the video card over heating. Replaced the video card fan and gave the system better air flow and that solved it. Your situation could be driver or hardware related but I would guess not driver. Almost sounds like there is a hand shake issue if it happens as soon as you hit play. Does the screen red change?

If you want to learn table building I think you should do it with version 10. Believe me, 10 is just as easy, the hard part in unlearning VP9.

Good hint.

You could also enable the frame limiter in the video preferences (set to 1). This way the gfx card will have some time to idle inbetween frames (less heat).

Especially if one enables 4xAA and AO in VP10, the gfx card will easily reach 100% otherwise.
