Is there a chance to know in advance what the next challenge will be (lets say for kiddie challenge)? It really sucks to see on a challenge start that you have just 3 hours if you started this on Thursday night at 11pm and dont want to stay up for so long ...waiting 3 days for new challenge start and weekend is over :-(. If I knew, i would have started fitting to my needs.
I would prefer sth like a coincounter: You have 5 games or sth to reach the challenge goal. Would that be possible in some way? (or maybe its already there further down the challenge road) Just a suggestion. What do you think about? (btw i never knew how bad i do at scared stiff...my version is a drain monster?)

Lads, go for weekly challenge, ced is distracted right now ;-)

Hi makmak,

The coincounter isn't going to work...there is no way i can know how many games you played.
The challenges are created to get your scoring up and even learn the rules of the table....to get better.
The 3 days time-out are so that you can practise some more ;)
They aren't all gonna be easy...wouldn't be challenging to just go through them in a day or so
You probably thought that it would be a walk in the park...starting it that late ;)
Nope gotta earn it :)
Scared stiff is set pretty high, so that will maybe take a few attempts...sorry

Not gonna change a thing about it though, was really hard to implement and not gonna touch it/break it

If you happen to see someone else is just one level up on the website..check his rank, that will give you a clue what comes next :)

Hi, OK, Ill have to take it as it is. I thought this might have disencouraged some, as there are not that many players. I thought it would be easier to implement. I did not think it would be a walk in the park. I was just curious what table comes next (or forgot which it was), just to find out I am an idiot and have to wait for three days to take the challenge, you know. Maybe i did not find out where to look what my actual challenge is, without starting it at the same time. Anyway, its fun!

Edit: maybe was a matter of update or sth, error is gone now

@ced 150.000.000 but only 1 hour timeframe (leaderboard challenge). Means, first game should be the one... I dont know how long my game took, but if you start your top game with 30 minutes left then youre done. So in fact you have 1 hour to FINISH if i got it right. For my abilities points alone are challenge enough, I wouldnt need the extra challenge of limited time ;-). But I am a pinball dummy. Good luck and less drains!

Do like i do
find one or two shot traps
and just sit there for several hours
Pausing when needed with ball caught in flipper

And just keep repeating the shot traps over and over and over

and when you cant find one on the table
just lose LOL

Jurassic Park?
I just had the thing running, all day while i was working, pausing it as needed
and i just kept repeating the same shots over and over and over

Bugs Bunny is a great example of

Just Lose

LOL

"Pausing when needed with ball caught in flipper"
I would not recommend this for a cab, i did this once. Went outside having coffee and so. Half an hour later ran inside cause of a strange smell -> flipper solenoid was smoking! Luckily it did not burn...never again leaving a flipper up paused for long. Pausing when the ball is somewhere on top of the playfield is the better option.

Not when you are mostly playing on a crappy laptop

No solenoid to burn

But pausing with ball at top usually results in, by the time the machine catches up, ball has magically teleported directly to the drain

On a cab? i might suggest a master kill switch to DOF toy power, which can also be used for after night night time play, so wife does not go all Kill Bill on you for

One more option, maybe totally absurd: no cheating, play like it was real ;-)
(obviously you have no mancave, lol, poor wiesshund ;-)

Too hard to clean duct tape off a laptop

obviously you have no mancave

No caves in a swamp, they fill with water

I have a dungeon, but it has different toys

noisy ones

Hi DNA,

My front end (PinballX) also uses a version of pinemhi to extract 'local' high score / special score information to display in the front end. I suspect that the leaderboard app is locking the pinballx version out of the nvram file on table exit though as my high score data in the front end is not up to date now.

Hope that makes sense, let me know if you need more info. Thanks.

Hi scutters,

You should see if the pinemhi version in the pinballx directory still works ok in commandline.
You are probably running a new vpinmame version...and the pinballx version doesn't have the right names to use for it..older version pinemhi
Especially colored roms....
this would be my guess....
Test it out and if commandline pinballx doesn't work....you can put the pinemhi.ini and the pinemhi.exe from leaderboard to the pinballx version and try again.

Most of the time it isn't pinemhi locking the nvram. :)

Dear DNA, are you still planning on 5-minute-challenge? What will it be like? Lasting for a week and you can start the challenge once or daily lasting for 5 minutes? Just curious. Thx!
