I had a hard time getting it to work in VP9. It was not until the release that I could even do it. It did not work with any betas. And I did not like that version enough to ever look at it after the Physmod builds.

In VP10 it crashes before I could even get a look at it. Someone will probably beat me to a VP10 mmpac. I am truly having a hard time getting a handle on VP10. I did a quick feasibility study in rebuilding it from scratch, but did not get very far. I though I would try one original, The corny Xena Warrior Princess, because I have collected a lot of music, sounds, speech, pictures props, etc. That way if I hit a roadblock, I could do something different and keep learning. With mmpac I couldn't work I would probably give up on VP10.

The best version is in Physmod5, unreleased, a bit of work past the version that is up at PN.

There is no section for it here. I'll post it if people want it, but not in this thread.

I can't answer your question so I'll ask you one instead. Did you convert VP10 MB from VP9 or rebuild it from scratch it in VP10?

That's good to know. I can't load a VP9 table and get to edit it... YET. I tried a few but not a lot. mmpac was the real bummer. Only success was a blank table1 from VP9. I will try to load VP9 MB just to see if I can edit it.

Monster Bash is nice to see in VP10 the shape it is in.

Will you some day see if you can load mmpac and get to the editor before it crashes. If you can I would like the .VPX file

I can get mmpac ws from pinballnirvana to load in vp10, if you delete the lights on the backdrop first in vp9.exe and then open it with vp10 beta 1606.exe

Hey shocy. If it will load. Before you try to edit it just do a file save. It will save as vpx and you should be good.

Or send it to me and ill load and save it for you

I'm not sure if it's just me (lack of skills) but I'm getting some odd backdrop behavior. My desktop is Mac parallels (running 1600x1050) and my cab is 1920x1080 but if I save on desktop load in cab backdrop is all messed up. Same thing happens if reversed. Not every time but 1 out of 5.

They say if there is a will there is a way, but I could not have willed this so thanks guys. Especially you gtxjoe. The lights on the backglass was the problem.

mmpacvp10.jpg

This is not as bad as it looks. I can work with this. It even partially plays already.

Done!

mmpac.jpg

Just kidding. This is the Old one.

I'm going to be busy for a while.

Are lights on the DT backglass going to work again in VP10?

That may be a bug to report.
not sure why they arent working.
you could always switch them to reels.
or an even more novel idea that i was going to do when ever i get back to my old wip of this table. What about building the small back box with the displays on the playfield area and adjusting the fov so it is visible

I like the batch processing in the material editor. What material would give the most vivid (original) quality to an image?

I don't even know how to do it with lights. Destruk get ALL the credit for lights in the AN display.

I tried modeling the display box once. It did not look right. I will have to revisit that. I might be able to put just the lights above the table in the table view and see how they lay on the backglass. I never tried that.

Thanks

One other thing I noticed, that the typical Extra Ball light positioned in the middle of the flippers, it is striped like VP990.

I have tried to change the value of the depth Bias of light, but the strips remain.

What are the optimal video preferences for best performance. I was messing around with options and now im getting crappy performance on everything

I'd say:

all the FXAAs off

4xAA off

ambient occlusion off

FPS limiter either 0 (all frames drawn) or 1 (limited by your monitor)

Max prerendered frames 0 or 2

Texture compression on (depends on gfx card though, sometimes -can- be a bit faster)

Aniso Filtering off

Software Vertex Processing off

EDIT: And just for the other way round, best quality:

all the FXAAs off

4xAA on

ambient occlusion on

FPS limiter either 0 (all frames drawn) or 1 (limited by your monitor)

Max prerendered frames 0 or 2

Texture compression off (depends on gfx card though, sometimes -can- be a bit faster)

Aniso Filtering on

Software Vertex Processing off

Maybe there should be an additional setting that lets you choose how 'aggressive' the edge approximation is?

In with rev 1645 (-> 'Editor' in the primitive options). There was also an additional bug, thats why the ramp only displayed half.  :/

With a pop bumper pushed into the playfield and the skirt put on, we should not see the 4 mounting posts.

I tried setting it to a surface below the table, but this buries the skirt.

Shockman is right... even though you do get to see the mounting posts at lower angles - still, the skirt should not sit exactly on the table surface but be raised by a few mm.

some time ago I tried to create a more realistic Bumper with moving trigger skirt.

Would be cool if something like this was the default in VP10.

Uploaded the demo table to my dropbox here (it's a VP9 table though - the skirt animation doesn't seem to work in VP10):

https://www.dropbox....t-Demo.zip?dl=0

quick VP10 version:

https://www.dropbox....mo-VPX.zip?dl=0

I get an error on the first link, and an error after hitting download in the second one. Does it basically wobble when a ball hits it, there is not a lot of animation with those but you could see a tilt lower where the ball is and up un the other side. just a bit.

About the mounting posts. A bit visible is fine. The look I like best is when you just see what looks like thin slots above the skirt.

Strange, the download links work for me (on my work computer as well).

True, not much going on in terms of animation, just the skirt tilting as the ball rolls over and resetting afterwards (also the script part is not perfect or rather not physically accurate but it works well enough).

Pretty subtle effect but then I guess it's these subtle things that eventually lead to more believability of the table.

Absolutely.

No errors this morning. Maybe I was stuck in traffic.

That looks very good and it works very good too.

Hey max. Is that on a raised playfield?
