Max pre rendered frames to 0 should run the graphics cards default, right? I think this is 3 which if I am calculating correctly will add a good 50ms of input lag. I think the default should be 1 and people need to have systems capable of running the software. Pinball is the worst environment to have input lag.

Yeah I think if anything makes sense for this setting it is 1.

Ill take a look through some of those mods. Maybe zany or dark can model a few.

On the vp10 thing.
maybe its me or the code im using but i have noticed when updating lights i sometimes have to completely replace a light with a new one. Maybe they are retaining some of the old light object properties. Maybe just an anomoly. As it only happens sometimes that they dont work.

I am noticing that some hit events arent regestering. Not sure if that is physics or object related.

Same thing happened to me when I converted a VP-DX7 table to VP-DX9, I also had to replace some walls, I could not give it the image.

One other thing I noticed, that the typical Extra Ball light positioned in the middle of the flippers, it is striped like VP990.

I get the impression that left and right Nudge do not work properly. It is very hard to save when the ball falls in the middle. There was no problem in the VP9.

Just tried the latest release with MB and VW. Getting stutter without vsync (showing in MB about 80 fps). The ball is also not round anymore. With JP's smurfs table I get a round ball. Isn't it possible to take the ball out of the system to show it always round?

No that's not possible. The reason for the eggy ball is the backdrop setting FOV/layback. I don't know your setup but you but you should play with ball aspect ratio in the video settings and adjust the backdrop settings.

Not having issues with odd shaped pinball, but I do notice for some reason the ball on MB seems to have a ring of glitter around the outer edge.

Is this what everyone else is seeing or do I have something set wrong?

OK, then we have the same problem FP always had now (could be seen best with BAM)? Hmmm. Good question how we could solve this as it sounds we only have the choice between a backdrop setting we do not like to get a round ball or a aspect ratio which is certainly not the same for each table. This sounds not very well for me...

Yes it's not a solution you're right. I've already tried a lot to get rid of the egg shape of the ball but if I found a good way to do it in the desktop mode the fullscreen cabinet mode was screwed up totaly or vice versa. I need to talk to the BAM developer how he solved it in FP. I'm really confident that we will solve this but it's tricky one.

This was never solved by Rafal. He explained that behavior to me that the egg shape is the shape of the ball including its shadow. But I never got the explanation why the shadow is not shown separately in addition to the round ball. I do not remember to see an egg shaped ball when playing my real pinball games...

Yes I notice the same thing, I think it's just the texture maybe isn't ideal....not sure.

No that is the extra lighting effect on the ball and the bloom effect supporting it even more...

Thanks.

As long as everyone else has it then it is nothing I need to look into.

Thought maybe it was one of my settings.

Maybe there should be an additional setting that lets you choose how 'aggressive' the edge approximation is?

In VP 10 night/day slider erased the shadows? Even the ball has no more shadow.. Or maybe it must be activated somewhere?

With a pop bumper pushed into the playfield and the skirt put on, we should not see the 4 mounting posts.

I tried setting it to a surface below the table, but this buries the skirt.

Shockman is right... even though you do get to see the mounting posts at lower angles - still, the skirt should not sit exactly on the table surface but be raised by a few mm.

some time ago I tried to create a more realistic Bumper with moving trigger skirt.

Would be cool if something like this was the default in VP10.

Uploaded the demo table to my dropbox here (it's a VP9 table though - the skirt animation doesn't seem to work in VP10):

https://www.dropbox....t-Demo.zip?dl=0

quick VP10 version:

https://www.dropbox....mo-VPX.zip?dl=0

I get an error on the first link, and an error after hitting download in the second one. Does it basically wobble when a ball hits it, there is not a lot of animation with those but you could see a tilt lower where the ball is and up un the other side. just a bit.

About the mounting posts. A bit visible is fine. The look I like best is when you just see what looks like thin slots above the skirt.

can we still use the old ball type or does it have to be a prim? Cause the new ball color/changing shape just ruins it for me.. JP's ball looks cool in DT mode but thats about it.

The light bulbs reflecting on the ball is really cool! However, is there a way to script which bulbs get reflected? I would like to not have bulbs above or below certain Heights not reflect. Is that something that is possible?

Thanks
-Mike

This question kind of got passed over so I thought I would put out a demo of why I would like this. To maybe spark some interest.

insert lights demo

That looks pretty fantastic! :)

I guess i'll have to add some kind of weighting factor to the bulbs for the reflection then (so if you set it to 0, then you disable the bulb completely, etc).

EDIT: this way you could still have the inserts reflection (approximate of course) on the ball when the ball passes by closely.

You now can enable the ambient occlusion in the video preferences instead. Its not the same as before of course, but IMHO better.  ;)
