Haunt, Laylow, John,

How did you get the music to play with this table?  I have some specific questions that hopefully will get mine working and might help others as well.

Did you drag the 5 included mp3 files into your C:/Visual Pinball/Music folder (that's where all of my music files are for other tables)?

Did you remove or rename any of the mp3 files?

Are you using the official Vpinmame 2.7 from this site or Arngrim's Vpinmame 2.7 from the other site?

Is the official Vpinmame 2.7 (or Arngrim's Vpinmame 2.7) needed to play the music?  I believe I have a 2.7 beta and then tried moving over the bass.dll from the 2.7 final version into my VP folder, but still no music yet.

Any help with this is most appreciated!

Did you start the installation program again after the update of vpinMame to register the dll.

And if you are on Seven, right-click on the setup.exe and dll to unblock files.

Work perfect here, great table thanks Hauntfreaks.

Did you try to remove tags in those mp3 files?

Dkong,
I copied and pasted the music files to my music folder. I'm running VPinmame 2.7 but don't recall what site I got it from. Also did not rename the files, left them as they were named. The music just worked for me. Hope you can get your problems resolved. Good luck.

Great table and oh sooooo cool! Many thanks.

No probs for me with music. One suggestion (it may be impossible or just too bloody hard), but when the game is over and it plays the attract mode music, it would be great if the table lighting upped the tempo to be in sync with the music. At the moment the table doesn't display the energy that the punk music suggests.

For those having problems with the music, please post errors if you're getting them.  Also, check your audio setting in VP.

Thanks for all the suggestion so far.  I started over with vpinmame 2.7, overwrote my existing files in my VPinmame folder and the .dll files and setup to run as administrator.  Then...this table now won't load at all.  Other tables seem okay, but I get the error message that game is not found.  What?

I also attached the error message I got when the table would load (before I decided to reinstall vpinmame 2.7).  At that time, the table would load, but as soon as a ball came out, this error message popped up.

Help!

what Rom are you using with the table??   startreb?  or ratfink?

if you're using ratfink, you must use the alternative vpm dll

I suggest you just use the startreb

http://www.vpforums....ads&showfile=49

but i dont believe the music issue stems back to VPM

also in the vpm 2.7 zip there should be a Bass.dll put that file in where your VPX exe is

if the Bass.dll isnt in the zip copy the one in your VPM folder and paste in where you have you vpx exe

The table worked before (without music) and I did not comment out anything from the script.  Now that I have updated to the official vpinmame 2.7 and updated my SAM.vbs and SAM Vpinmame.dll, other tables are playing okay again, but I keep getting the "Bass music/sound library" error.  I also made sure the Bass.dll was moved from vpm 2.7 to my VP folder (where the VPX.exe is located).

I then attempted to play the table again without music, but I don't know where/what to comment out of the script.  I checked lines 140-154, but what/where do I comment out?  The table now does not play at all for me.

The sad thing is I know I'm likely missing something that I have seen before, but just can't remember what I did.  The mp3 files that were included in the v1.1 table download are in my VP/music folder just like all of my other music from other tables.

Edit: I downloaded the RF v1.1 table again and now the table plays great...just still missing the music playing.

Here is a short video showing the how the table plays for me.

At the 0:32 mark is the only voice/audio that is working for me (other than the "dings" heard from the startrek rom).

Are you still getting an error pop-up? Or no errors and no music?

Thank you guys again for continuing to help me with this.  I have had a working VP/PBX system for some time, but I clearly messed something up.

It looked like the table would run fine without music, but then I would get the same Bass music/sound library error after restarting the table.  Then I tried JP’s Gargamel table (which played great before and with music)…and what do you know…same Bass music/sound library error.  Argh!

I clearly screwed up my system when upgrading to the official and then SAM version of vpinmame 2.7 (I know it was my user error).  Most everything worked great with what I had before (vpinmame 2.7 beta and SAM I believe).  The only thing that wasn’t working was music on the Rat fink table.

Anyway, after moving the Bass.dll files around and trying to “unblock” files once again, I still am getting the same error message.

By the way, I’m running Windows 7 and when originally installed the OS, I was able to “unblock” all needed files.  Now, I don’t have the “unblock” option on right click and the option does not show up in properties either.

I hope this isn’t my issue, as I would then need to dig even further as to why I no longer see the “unblock” option.

Nothing was working, so I did a system restore to 2 days back and the RF table now plays without music most of the time.  I still get the Bass music/sound library error sometimes and I can’t figure why sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t.

I can now play the Gargamel table again, but I have lost the music playing in that table as well.

Can some kind soul walk me through steps to fix this Bass music/sound library error issue, so music once again can be heard from these awesome tables?

Thank you and I’m still hopeful to figure this out.

Thanks guys.  Before I saw your latest posts, I found this post http://www.vpforums....showtopic=32553.  For some reason, I had a few vbs scripts still in my tables folder from before I installed vp10 last year.  I removed those and now only have vbs scripts inside the scripts folder.

I then was looking at the naming convention in the Gargamel and RF scripts.  I noticed there was one digit off and I must have added it, because I don't see it in the fresh download of the table.  I attached a screen shot of the music name in the script with the "0" added somehow.  I removed the 0 and now the table seems to be working WITH music playing!  I exited and relaunched the table about 5 times in a row without an error and with different songs playing each time.  Woohoo!

A side note, when I pressed F3 to reload the table, the music keeps playing where it was and does not start over.  This is not a big deal, as I will be launching the table from PBX and the music starts over each time with this method.

I tested some other tables using this music method just to be sure they are working once again...they are!

One last thing that may be of help to others, I believe I was also getting errors when I had the ratfink rom selected in the script.  I now am using the startreb rom.  I'm not sure this was part of the issue I had, but wanted to mention it.

Thank you all for the help!  I love this hobby and the people involved.  As frustrating as it can be sometimes, when things are working...it's just awesome.
