I usually don't get stumped by an error, but I’m getting some strange nudge.mp3 error , i press ok and the tables seems to play fine , smooth as butter. and yes i Downloaded VP10 and unzipped it and copied the 7 files into the visual pinball folder ( i know the pic points to a different folder, but i moved it, same prob ) and then unzipped the VBS.zip and copied the 50 VBS files into my tables folder Any idea guys how i fix it searched to no avail.1 solution was to make a dummy .mp3 file in the music folder named nudge.mp3 which fixes the error, but something must be wrong please see attached pic.

Maybe right click on bass.dll and select properties

At bottom of the general tab, click on Unblock

Thanks for the reply mate, i'm running win7 ultimate 64bit as admin and haven't got an unblock option in the properties, read something like that somewhere aswell. Thanks anyway mate

Thanks mate for the updated bass.dll, i replaced the one i had with the one you gave me , this time unblock option was available in properties, i unblocked , tried vp10 again but unfortunately still same error, i also ran vpinmame setup and hit install again just in case it mattered. Thanks anyway for trying

If it helps anyone, if i put a tune/music on the temporary blank nudge.mp3 i made to fix the error, it will play the tune/music on top of every rom that i load from all vp versions vp10beta,vp9,vp9.9,physmod5 once only, so the rom startup sounds and the nudge.mp3 tune/music will play simultaneously until the tune/music ends then the rom sounds play normally. Hope that helps someone figure what ive done or not done to get vp10beta installed without errors.

Do i have to delete something in the registry maybe to reset vp10beta ?, because i'm having a couple of tables (not all) where no matter what i do, some .direct.b2s aren't working either with my vp10beta install, no problems with all the other yp versions i have. Cheers . Solved this : Didn't know about the LMEMDOFTables.txt file in the USER dir , all good now for all direct.b2s

Anyone else with backglass not showing here is possibly why :

The backglass is now controlled with the new standard <vp>/User/LMEMDOFTables.txt file.
                                                                           Simply edit the file,
                                                                           0 for no backglass
1 for backglass + no DOF
                                                                           2 for backglass + DOF

                                                                           Thanks Daryl

Did you try this

Unblock the zip file before unzipping it and then install the files

me2010 said:

No i didn't and you are right it did have the unlock option in the properties for the zip, unfortunately same error again after i deleted then installed the files again into the visual pinball directory, thanks for your help anyway.

I'm not sure these unblocking procedures are my issue as i have downloaded 100's of files for all vp versions,tables,directB2s's etc and never had to unblock anything to get stuff to work, i'm still suspicious its a vp10beta registry isssue for me anyway, but can't mess around in there without some guru assistance. Gotta be somewhere something that has a directory path not leading to where i have my visual pinball directory maybe ( i don't know ), but again this issue is only for vp10beta , all other vp versions are all working fine.

If it helps     c:\visual pinball\visual pinball   , is my visual pinball installation its in a sub directory of a folder named visual pinball, could this be an issue ? I have no idea.

Also

Changelog.txt states

- new external audio library for music playback (BASS)
this allows to use different formats than just MP3, e.g. OGG

VPX_beta_rev2194 ,is what i'm using, but dosen't state when this was introduced, maybe i can go back some revisions before new external audio library(BASS) was added, see if i still get the error ?

Try going to Preferences>Audio Options

Set both sound devices to "Primary Sound Driver"

See if the error goes away.

I had that problem with AMH and that was what fixed it for me.

Thanks for the advice mate, unfortunately that was one of the first things i tried. I have both sound devices set to "Primary Sound Driver" , thanks anyway.

Ok, i have some extra info as to whats going on. I have 1 EM vp10beta table ( not from here ) and the error dosen't come up when i run that table, it has a backglass. So now I'm thinking its related to something in the script of the new tables .

EDIT : Scrap that idea cause I'm sure hes not using the bass.dll library for his sounds

Just curious .. do any of the files begin with "bgout" or tagged with "BG". Those are handled slightly differently and outputted to your back speakers.

The bgout files in my music directory are for the AC/DC table , the EM table that the error dosen't come up when i run the table dosen't use bgout or tagged BG files, all the sounds are included in the .vpx , its every other table that uses a rom where i get the BASS music/sound library cannot load error. So I'm with you * I don't know everything * :tongue3:

Have you searched to see if there are other bass.dll files installed - perhaps in the various windows system directories.

Try uninstall/repair of  .net ?

Hello and happy new year.
You see i had this problem too, it began when i wanted to play VPinballX machines
Now, i 've had it for a while and finally i've solved the problem of BASS music/sound library cannot load.

You see i had a VBS file in my tables folder from what i believe was last modified 2010.
It was called NudgePlugin or something like that. Now i've read the file in my text editor (i use for Visual Basic).
It says something about creating a variable that needs to be in the music directory.
So if you would nudge your cab, it would have to play some mp3 file. Now i never created or had it named, so it was looking for a 'blank' name.
I deleted the file (vbs) and now it's fixed. So if you still have this problem, you should check your folders in Visual Pinball for some old VBS files.
I just had it fixed, in the new year good news. (i hope you can follow the story)

Hello...New here. I am trying to install the Queen, Van Halen, and Def Leppard tables, and I receive the same "Bass error" messages right at the launch.

I tried almost everything to the sun, and i am sure it's a simple fix. Just don't know what else i can do.  ;)

Can anyone recommend anything in the scripts that I would need to change or remove?

Thanks.

I don't have any of those yet, but I like your taste in music.

And if that doesn't work, the Table's Release-Notes (or maybe the file-download notes here) usually mentions where any required music-files should be placed.

The above probably is not your error, you need to make sure to place the included music files in the "Music" folder, the BASS error message will tell you where the table expects those to be placed. (root or sub directory)

Thanks for all the replies. I have already tried that (MP3's inside the music folder), but still the same error messages. Is there anything in the scripts I should update?

I recall reading somewhere in old comments that if I rename each of the Mp3's as: "1.mp3, 2.mp3" , etc. it might work. But i have no idea if you do that in the script, the music file, or both?

@marcamy table runs without error for me. Just no music when the mp3s are not placed in the Music directory, but playable. So seems your BASS error comes from somewhere else. What's the exact error message? Also what VPX, VpinMame and B2S versions are you on?

Hi Marcamy

I know what you meant.

vanhallen_t.png

Don´t forget to download the music files at:

vanhalenm_t.png

Most of tables where need a file Music, most of them are located in "Visual Pinball\music" folder because is normal where "Vpinball.exe" is installed.

Even though when you install the "Vpinball.exe" in a different folder.

But there are some tables where the music folder must be exactly in the same folder  "Vpinball.exe".

I Have a lot different versions of "Vpinball.exe" so, I have different folders and for that case I need to create a Music folder in the same "Vpinball.exe" folder.

vanhalenfolder0_t.png

Now it will works fine :otvclap:

Thank you Emanoel. ..

Creating a separate file (outside the VisualPin >music file) did work!

Like I said, I knew it was a simple fix. after I saw your illustration.
