Thanks for the mod Aaron, the lights in JP's version are cracking so this really lends itself to a night version. Cheers for sharing what you've done  :good:

Hey JP, while you are looking at the Ringmaster I was wondering if you could take a look at the following... In the Pinball Arcade version (and I'm assuming this happens in the real pin but I've yet to play one), sometimes after the RM magnet catches the ball and raises his head, while the RM's head is bobbing around on the spring, the magnet releases the ball and sometimes flings it up and into the highwire centre ball lock. This is called a 'sneaky lock' and you see a DMD animation of a pinball tip-toeing across the screen which is pretty cool!  Would this be easy to implement this somehow?

Cheers  :drinks:

The problem with VP is that an air ball, this is a ball jumping from one place to another, will from time to time jump into an object. So more likely the ball will get stuck inside a nearby plastic. Yes, an air ball may and will jump into a solid object, I have seen the ball get stuck even inside a bumper. That's why I tried to minimize that by making the ball fall only on the playfield.

About the movement of the Ring Master: I could use more walls to make it move a little more, but it will never look like the real one or the one in Farsight's version. And it will need a lot of script changes. Using a primitive could be a solution, but I'll need to try it first.

Personally, I think the way Farsight made the movement of the ringmaster was over dramatic compared to the real machine.
If you did somehow make any improvement to the ringmaster it would be awesome, but honestly I think it's already pretty damn good.
I guess it comes down to how long you want to spend on one machine.
You've done so much with CV already, it's sooo good, one of my favs...but if you did want to work on CV more, you'd definitely make tons of VP members happy ;-)

Thanks JP and Aaron for the discussions. Yeah, if its too much, maybe putting the time on new tables would be better since CV is already awesome where its at.

Honestly and humbly, I've done as much as I could do with where my skill level is at, at this point.
JP could probably do it. Him and others are way beyond what I'm capable of.
In still trying to learn scripting/coding , as its no easy process.
So much to learn, such little time. Damn job!!! Haha

I would love to recreate a space station FS, but that's still too over my head. One day perhaps.

Lol.  I hear ya about having little time.  Last Summer for about 4 weeks or so in a row, I was putting in some massive time building my cab.  Had a great time, but took a toll on me.  Like ya said, damn job!

You're farther along than me.  I would love to learn the coding needed to create these tables and help out our community.  I'm more of a hardware and software dude and do not have alot of programming experience.  I wish I had the time to start studying how these tables work more so I can be of some benefit to the community.  JP and the others (and you too Aaron) have put out some amazing tables that play incredible on full size cabs (and I'm sure desktops too).  I really hope the designers continue creating re-makes of the "newer" tables.  But, like you and I, they have full time jobs and families that take up the important time.

Thanks for considering it JP :good:  I must be coming more familiar with the limitations of VP as I thought that would be the problems with an air ball :) But I also thought it might be possible to use kickers to destroy the ball in one place and then create it in the highwire lock to simulate it flying off.

Anyway forget I mentioned it. I hoped it might be easy to add but it sounds a nightmate! You've got tonnes on your plate as it is and this is already a fantastic table.

Cheers :drinks:

UPDATED

n57w.png

What's New in Version 2.0 (See full changelog)
  • -Changed alpha ramp flashers
  • -Made menagerie ball's mass less dense to play like Pinball Arcade's version / real game, and also made the ball bigger
  • -Tweaked table/flipper physics
  • -Added table dmd graphic (I use my 3rd monitor for dmd)
  • -Made pop bumpers (boom balloon) more sensitive.
  • -Reworked the main ramp so it travels around the ringmaster lock and down to the flipper smoother.
  • -Made a new apron.
  • -Shopped out the rubbers to give it a more "real feel". (especially down by the outlanes).
  • -->I felt the ball rarely ever drained down by the sides. Now, you NEVER know if it will or not :-)

Thanks!

I'm not sure if a db2s backglass would really make any difference?

Rosve did such a great job on the b2s version.

Id definitely love to see another version, but his will be tough to beat

One argument is Rosve version is pretty clean, but not spectacular in terms of lightning.

Cheers for the update Aaron!!!  :good:   It's looking really nice...

Couple of points, does the ball sometimes get snagged up for you off a full plunge? Also I think you've gone a tad too far with the elasticity settings for some rubbers. When the ball is moving the fast the rebounds of the outlane rubbers can be mad. I would say this needs a bit more balance to have more natural ball movement.

p.s. I LOVE Rosve's original backglass for this table... and the .exe B2S versions still run slighty better for me in terms of performnce so I'm happy you've kept it :)

For me, the ball never gets snagged in the plunger.

You may be right about the elasticity of the rubbers.

I may tune them down a tad and make an small update to 2.1

thx.

Cheers Aaron!

played this some more and it's a great one for the cabinet in the dark. Thanks to JP for that original...

Yeah it's not so much in the plunger but in the upper loop round the back of the circus master, it's like it hits something and cuts 80% speed off the ball. I've never played the real machine so maybe this is the skillshot but it just seems like it shouldn't happen.

Looking forward to 2.1!  :)

UPDATED TO VERSION 2.1
***  I changed the elasticity of the playfield rubbers and made them just a tad bit LESS bouncy per feedback from the community.
