Toss it.  GameRoomGuys has a real sturdy cab you can put a raspberry PI into.

Hey DNA,

I periodically get the following error when I try to run a table. Lately, I'm getting it with Bride of Pinbot.  If I exit out of PinballX, quit the pinemhi.rom.monitor.exe file, then reload it, it all starts working again.  It seems to be happening when I first boot up my cabinet (and I have the pinemhi.rom.monitor.exe auto start).

Ideas?

Wonder if something is happen, after the cab boots, adjustment to screens etc, that is making what pinemhi thought invalid

are you starting it at boot via a batch file?

If so, maybe put a delay in the bat file

PING localhost -n 30 >NUL
will hold it off for about 30 seconds if you make that the 1st line in the bat file

Hi gpstevens,

It's probably what wiesshund said.
Maybe it starts too soon and not al screens have been assigned.and the x-values are invalid at that time.
Putting in a delay like wiesshund suggested would probably solve it.
You could try it out and see if it works...

Let me know if this solves it

I have it autostart as wel but it starts after windows started completely...not at my cab right now so can't take a look..but had also problems at first because it started too early

Woop woop!  Thanks y'all.  I feel like Scutt's deserves it especially for the heartache, but keeping the game going is part of the podium :) haha.

Also, have y'all seen the high scores on IJ?  WTF, you guys?  How do you get wild scores? I'm working my ass off for 400m.  Looks like I have some studying to do.

Eat my shorts scutters

no, not those new clean ones

those over there, the ones i wore for 2 weeks

In July

time for your cab to get frosty again

@Brandonlaw
Get multiball
And keep throwing the balls back down the center ball lock
then you get to keep a number of balls on the table, for a long time.
try to relock at least 2, before going multiball happy
then if you lose one, throw a 3rd up in the lock

Hello Dna Disturber!

Some days ago I did a complete reinstall of my cabinet and switched from windows 7 to 10 without any hussles so far.
And I thought I will upgrade my cabinet with a nice scoring-feature! So thank you very much for developing this great tool! :tup:

There is one thing I am not sure about the usage.
Without touching the flipper-keys, only using the plunger to get the lowest score ever - every game-score will be uploaded after exiting the table at the game-over screen, right?
I got the issue that no score at all will be uploaded to the leaderboard - see below.

If this is not the case and I need a highscore to enter my initials to be uploaded to the pinemhi-leaderboard, please forget about the rest of my posting.
I will need some more practising then!  :juggle: :P

Hi Piple,

Welcome aboard
You are right about the scores, even the lowest ones will be submitted after an exit of the table.
I see you started a challenge and also see that there is some info in the logfile...so i think it has something to do with the nvrams
I assume you get the locked badges and top 10 lists when you start a game.

Ok let's see if we can fix this.
Are you a 100 percent sure that it is the right nvram path?
Maybe it's in the visual pinball directory?
As you can read in the log the same scores come up, first check is when you start a table and the second one after you exit. If those are equal then no score is submitted. That is the case here
So this would be the problem

Do you have multiple vpinmame installations perhaps?
You can also check the nvram path when you run the setup from vpinmame and look at paths.

If everything checks out fine then
Another problem that could cause this is how your frontend exits vpinball.
You can check this when you play a games...remember the score then exit and start it again. You should see your last score come by in the dmd....if not that's an indication that the nvram didn't update correctly.
Also you can try to run visual pinball without a frontend and check if that will send the scores.

If that works you could try to use another exit key in your frontend as that causes the nvrams not to update correctly.
I would suggest using the q as exit button to see if that works...

Let me know if this helps or not of course, then we have to investigate some more

Hi!

Thanks for your answer and the suggestions!

When pressing the L-key, I can see something's popping up on the taskbar but I cannot see any window.
Maybe I need to upload my first score to get some data?

When using pinemhi on the command-line, is the path-setting correct when I get an output like this:

2) ASR     4 500 000 000
3) BCM     4 000 000 000
4) MOO     3 500 000 000

When changing the path in the ini-file, I get this error-message:

C:\Pinball\pinemihi>PINemHi.exe afm_113b.nv
No such file : C:\Pinball\Visual Pinball\VPinMAME\nvram2\afm_113b.nv

So I assume, the path is correct.

I wonder if I should also see the score of the last game in PINemHi-output?
Maybe that's the problem?

I did the score-test. Next time I started up the table, I was able to see the score of the last game in DMD, so nvram-update looks good too.
I also tried to start the game without the frontend.

One more thing:

The output above is from my desktop-machine for testing.

This is the output from my cabinet:

C:\Pinball\pinemhi>PINemHi.exe afm_113b.nv

4) MOO     3,500,000,000

As you can see, there are "," at the scores. They are not on my desktop-machine.
The difference between the machines is that my cabinet is installed with English language, my desktop in German.

Don't know, if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

BUY-IN HIGHEST SCORES
1) DWF     5,000,000,000
2) ASR     4,500,000,000
3) BCM     4,000,000,000
4) MOO     3,500,000,000

As you can see, there are "," at the scores. They are not on my desktop-machine.
The difference between the machines is that my cabinet is installed with English language, my desktop in German.

Don't know, if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

Hi Piple,

You should set all the options on in pinemhi.ini for badges and all the lists.

[online]
personal_scores=1
personal_special_scores=1
best_scores=1
friend_scores=1
cup_scores=1
badges=1

Then restart the pinemhi_rom_monitor if it was already running and then press L multiple times, you should see the list of the best scores .

Then we'll know if that works

You didn't answer if you maybe have multiple vpinmame installations on your desktop/cabinet.

And also the check for what path is in the vpinmame setup.

Cause i strongly believe that you don't have the right nvram directory in the pinemhi.ini

Is there also an nvram directory in your visual pinball directory and does that have nv files in them?

C:\Pinball\Visual Pinball\nvram\

Was the pinemhi_rom_monitor running when you started visual pinball without a frontend?

are you also getting the scores are equal messages in the logfile when running without the frontend?

And yes language can make a difference...for me it's dots as i have it on dutch
