I love playing pinball in VR.

I don't like switching tables via Steam-shortcuts, because you can't do it with your cabinet-keys. You have to use your vr-controllers in order to select a table. In most cases vpx loses focus and cabinet-controls don'work until you set focus to vpx (outside vr) again. For me it was very fustrating to handle the navigation that way. I tried to find a solution for a couple of weeks.

Now i will show you my solution - the progress of my project.

vpxvrl.png

This is a loader for VPinballX_GL.EXE.

With the included vpx-vrlauncher.exe and vpx-vrlauncher.vpx it's now possible to switch tables with plunger and flipper keys.

Now you can stay at your cabinet playing and switching tables without the need of VR-controls.

If you exit a table, the table-selection will be shown again.

Very cool idea!

Why do you need to make a new VPX to accomplish this?   Table scripts can read/write to the registry or even launch programs without needing to modify VPX.  Perhaps if you share your code it will make more sense.

When you launch a table how is VPX unloading and reloading again?

This version loads the next table automatically when the menu table is closed. If the closing table is not the menu.vpx, it will be destroyed by the vpx. My goal was not to launch any programs and not to leave the application.

In any case, I will publish the sources so that someone with c++-skills can improve things.

I thought I did everything right...   But it is trying to load 'Diner', no matter how I edit my Menu table script.  (Any reference to 'Diner' in the script is totally removed)

I'm using directory C:/Visual Pinball...   Not C:/VP   ..   Does this matter?   (I tried both).

It’ll be really neat if we can get this working. I like the simplicity and straightforwardness of design.

OK.. Alpha 4 fixed the 'Diner' issue.. and it now loads the table that I select (Very nice!).  However...

I have always had an issue with VPGL.exe ....    I have always needed to shut down VPGL after each table run (close it, and restart) :(    I am not sure why I need to do this, but otherwise I just stay in the room with the circles on the floor and the table is not shown in VR. (the table is loaded, but I don't see it in the headset)

So..   Your table may be working as intended...  but sadly, it will not escape back to the menu table in my case.

Anyone else have any idea why I need to close VPVR in between each table run?  Does this happen to anyone else?

(This doesn't happen to me with regular VPX)

The same thing happens to me as well in vpvr. As far as i know there has always been issues in vp and vpx if you don't close the editor and relaunch with each table.

Basbi...   I notice that you are not going through Oculus..   I wonder if the Oculus software is the issue for us. ?

(It would be nice to get to the bottom of this..  as it is a really big time waster when working on/editing tables as well)

Sense the beginning of time, I've always had an issue with changing tables unless I close the editor.

It may work for awhile but eventually it will hang and then I'll have to force quit.

Yes,  I have also had this issue with regular VPX and VP9, but I think this might be a separate issue.

The table is loading, and displayed on my desktop monitor, it just won't render to the headset unless I do a VP restart.
