File Name: Zira (Playmatic 1980) VPX

File Submitter: mfuegemann

File Submitted: 24 Nov 2017

File Category: VPX/VPinMAME Recreations

Author(s): mfuegemann
Manufacturer: Other - Pinball
Year: 1980
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

This is the VPX recreation of Zira by Playmatic. Akiles provided lots of images of the playfield and plastics scans. He did the redraw of the playfield and I touched it up a bit more.
Some of table objects have been created by dark and GTXJoe (screws, light bulbs, gates). Thank You for this.

The GameOn solenoid is not stable for this pin too, so I disabled the flippers while no ball is on the playfield.
At the top of the script, You have some options:
- DimGI   allows You to adjust the GI brightness
- FreePlay  adds a coin each time a game is started
- VolumeMultiplier adjusts the basic table sounds (triggers, ball rolling)
- KeySelfTestValue sets the key with which to access the settings menu, adjust values with the StartGameKey

Within the download file are the settings menu and the score card with the table rules.

The table is set up for FS and DT mode.

Have fun
Michael

Thanks, Michael, very original and never seen artwork, and gameplay is fantastic, so many things to do !

Thanks to Akiles, too, for playfield and plastics !

I just have a question,  there's no music, except at the beginning and the end of a play, is it normal ?

Have a feeling that my rom isn't up to snuff on this.
Like batch - not much sound coming of the table.

My zira.zip rom content.

Hi guys,

I have no clue on the music. VPinmame 2.5 states that Playmatic System 2 sounds are working but I have no output on Zira too.

Hi Michael,

when I start the emulation a windows notification box (you apologize for the sound issues) appears. How can I switch this off?

Thank you,

Christian.

Do You have a screenshot? CRC-error messages can be deactivated within the ROM settings (right click on display).

Hello Michael,

i'm checking the dof now, i have a concern about the slings, in the manual i don't see the upper one in the schematics

Attached File  Sans titre.png   925.57KB   5 downloads

i'm asking because both use the same switch in the script and if that's correct then i need to add some code to split the shared siwtches into DOF scripted calls

Hi Arngrim,

I just checked the spare switches. I can use #39 for the upper slingshot. I have no solenoid reaction for both #41 and #39, though.

This will be in with version 1.1. Can You send me any additional DOF corrections?

Regards

Michael

well, if both slings don't share the same switches then there's no need for additional script.

but the main question is are you really sure there is an upper slingshot in the playfield?

i don't see any in the schematics?

there is not always a solenoid behind a sling or a bumper to my knowledge

Hi Arngrim,

the table photos, I got have a slingshot there. So I implemented it.

From my experience the manuals are very often apart from the real thing.
