File Name: Millionaire (Williams 1987) FS D+N-MOD

File Submitter: xenonph

File Submitted: 02 Dec 2016

File Category: VP 9.x MOD Cabinet Tables (FULL SCREEN)

Author(s): JPSalas-dboyrecords-Xenonph
Manufacturer: Williams
Year: 1987
ROM: Link to ROM
Media Pack: Link to Media Pack
Permission to MOD?: Unspecified

Converted dboyrecords FS version.
I want to thank dboyrecords for allowing mods without permission.
I also want to thank JPSalas and anyone else who helped make this table come to life.
I noticed there wasn't a VP9 Desktop version of this table, and thats what got me started on this mod.

Check the original table for more info. I'm sure alot of time and effort went into making this table, and it is deeply appreciated, so all credit should be directed there way. I just made a few simple changes to help out the Desktop Users. So now we can enjoy this work of art they created.

First of all..
I used to play this pinball every day. It's one of my favorites. I remember trying to nudge at just the right time when the roullette wheel was spinning to get the extra ball every time!!
I fixed the upper ball lock, so it now functions properly.  It kept kicking the pinball back out the way it came in. Now it travels on upper wire ramp and into holding bay on right side of playfield.

I resized the apron plastic, by extending the bottom control points so the apron decals arent cut in half.

I resized the dollar decal on apron.

Made a Day and Night Mod.

Hope you enjoy!!

Hi xenonph,

thank you for this nice table, today premiere on our cab.... One remark/question from my test play yesterday. How can I change the roulette that the ball-rest in each hole will become same likely like all others? At present the ball come only to rest in one of the three holes at bottom.

any suggestion is welcome,

cheers, Christian.

Try to decrease Gravity Constant to 1,2 - 1,3 or 1,4 ( Options / Backdrop ) ...

Thanks for the help STAT..I have never messed with the physics, so it would be impossible for me to help someone else fix it.

I have a question..

Does rotating the playfield for desktop use have any effect on physics? I didn't have to rotate this FS version.

Thats basically all I did, besides fixing the upper ball lock and apron.

Does it have an effect on ball physics?

Thanks for any help or info my pinball friends. I want everyone to be satisfied in the end. I will work towards achieving this goal.

I used to play this game alot, nudging at the right time will also help put the roulette ball where you want it.

Have a great night.

God Bless!!

Rotate to 270 havent effects to the phys ... only the phys Options like "gravity" or others, in the same Option Box, does that ...
And of Course, all the Settings at Flippers, Bumpers, Ramps (Heights) ...

But i think, the Roulette is a Special Thing, maybe the Pro Authors here have any better Solutions,
because the Ball dont often stay at the upper Holes.

Also you can try to Change the Mainwall at the Roulette to Heights 0 and 1 ( against 6 i think )
Edit: or 1 and 0 ( Bottom / Top) to get another effect that perhaps works better

Thanks for the info..I didn't think I was changing any physics from the original by rotating it, but best to ask and make sure.

Another question..

Does changing Inclination, Field of View, or Layback effect Physics?

Also I remember the Roulette Wheel being more level on the actual Pinball Machine.

Is there a way to have physics on Roulette ball be different than the in play pinball? I think as it is, the physics setting effects both balls the same.

I appreciate the help.

Thank you for your time sir.

Does changing Inclination, Field of View, or Layback effect Physics? No.

The Phys on the Roulette you can Change only with the Wall Height at Bottom/Top ( at this Table Version ),
i did a quick test yesterday at my Cab and it was a bit better ... had not enough time to test more ...

I remember, take a look in Script and search for "20+20*RND...", this is the Ball Kickerspeed for the Roulette Ball,
maybe you can try something with this also ... but i think thats most ok.

i have tried something, and try to optimize more, because this is a really good Table ...i like it.
VPX would be a dream :)

Thanks for the info STAT.

Wow that VPX version looks great laylow!!

I was just trying to make a VP9 Desktop Version, because I noticed there wasn't one, then I noticed the upper ball lock wasn't working, and the apron was cut off. So after making the Desktop conversion, I decided to make available the Fixed Upper Ball Lock and Apron fix the Fullscreen version for the cabinet users.

I know someone with more experience could do a much better job, but I was just trying to help the community.

Thanks again Sir.

Hi Stefan,

I tried it with 1.15. The situation is slightly improved but game action became sluggish. Then I set the table incline to 7° .... The problematic is that the roulette has the same inclination like the whole table. Is there a way to set the roulette inclination to zero °?

Again, thanks you for support, Christian.

I dont know exactly, have you tried to Change the Wall Heights Bottom / Top ?
0 and 1 or 2 would be ok, maybe start with 1 and 0 ... that the bottom is higher ... experimentally.
So you can stay up with the Gravity > 1.2 i think

I think I figured it out. At least it went into different hole each time I hit roulette wheel,,

Try this...Click the outer and inner walls of the wheel on the editor, and click state. Then change Elasticity to 0.7 and set Scatter Angle to 1.

Do this on both inner and outer wall.

Let me know if this works for you, or if I am just hallucinating.

Outer Wall..

Inner Wall..

capture213_t.png

Hope this helps. It worked for me, but I only played a few games. It never landed in same spot for me though with this change.

I need someone else to confirm that this works.

Let me know if it works.

Keep on Pinballin'

YES, it works ! This leads to the next question: the kickerholes are not correctly shown. This is given on may tables. Main reason is the graphic source material of the playfield. Up to now I was able to cover it by placing a decal with this :

image. The cookie cut I received from Martin Brunker.

But at Millionaire the decal remains hidden, regardless where (foreground) I place it on the playfield graphic. What is to do?

thank you, Christian.

xenonph, it is your Tablerelease, (i hope you ...) update it ;)

Christian: Table / Image Manager ... Export r01 - r12 and modify Images,
then use "Reimport from", i hope its that, what you mean.

I am truly a beginner at this still.

Have a great day and thanks for the help
