Hi,

As suggested in the VP10 beta thread, its perhaps a good idea to have a standalone thread to be used for discussion on the many VP10 beta tables that have been released.  In no way does this supplant the very important discussions that need to take place in the VP10 beta thread, as these directly lead to resolutions to issues and improvement to the editor itself.  However, from conversing with a few authors and other members, it seems apparent that quite a few members are not aware that there are several test tables out there.  From a POV of a member who's yet to explore the beta thread, the idea of navigating through 65 pages of information may be a little daunting and scary, so these "previews" won't be experienced by many who would like to try them out.

What I propose is, if any authors are interested in reading on gameplay feedback, to mention their table is available for testing in this thread, provide a link in their table and I will ensure I keep the first post updated with the link to the table.  On the flip side, anyone downloading these should understand that VP10 EXE beta's are changing, so it's always possible a table stops working, so don't get upset if that happens!  As well, I highly recommend a progressive nature to the comments.  IE: I don't think "your table sucks" helps to make a better table :)

I believe I should not go through the VP10 beta thread and post a link to an author's table as I don't want to push an author into doing this if they don't want to, so I leave it to you to let me know it's ok, or post in this thread with your link.

So let's hear it VP10 table authors, your community testers await! ...  and the authors have spoken! :)

Latest tables are always at the bottom of the list.  Any issues running these tables?  Ensure you get the latest VP10 beta exe first and install included updated DLL/VBS, then if it still doesn't work, report back here :).  Sometimes some of the betas can be a bit buggy (normal and expected) or may require the table to be updated to include a new feature or a fix of an old bug.  If you run into any issues, as stated, post about it here for the author to look into it.

Latest VP10 beta is found in the first post of the VP10 beta thread here: http://www.vpforums.org/index.php?showtopic=30418&hl=  (Revision 2435 as per when this post was last updated)

A reminder:  If you get balls stuck and nobody else is reporting it, check to see if the issue goes away if you raise the "object detail level" slider that is found on "Preferences/Video options" section of VPinballX.exe.

Randr has graciously allowed me to advertise his "Mopar Madness" VP10 beta table, which is a retheme based on Uncle Willy's "Black Pyramid". The table is looking very good so far,

You can get the table here, you'll also need to get the music files and the rom, which is also available at the following link:
https://www.dropbox....EnESrQUNLa?dl=0

IMHO, it is a real fun table. The speed is very fast which goes along well with the car based theme; the flipper physics do a decent job of advertising the awesomeness of the vp10 physics engine and the little touches Randr is putting in (like the "holographic" panels) helps it stand on it's own from the Williams classic it is based on. Special kudos on a silky smooth vari-target, a must for this table. Some work still left to do but as is, a damn fine start and super fun table to play. Word of warning: this table is hard which reflects the era very well but it's the right type of hard which IMHO leads to that awesome "one more try"

Note to all: I will update the first post once a day with any table links so it's easy for everyone to find them

Better and better!!

Just one question, I don't know if this one is normal or not, but I can see pink "down" the playfield. I mean, trough all the arrows (except the 4 directional ones in the middle) ... just judging the FS picture of the table. Haven't download it yet.

I'm starting to HATE pink. The playfield has material. It could be that the lights lighting the floor there are too bright. Perhaps the lane arrows need a better off color. I'll keep it in mind when I start tinkering with it again. The lights there are on layer 5. I think you would like a value of 9 intensity better.

I was looking at the picture and pushed the pull plunger key. I feel so stupid for doing that that I probably should not mention it.

Lol it's ok Shockman, Pink is the New black :)

BTW, I downloaded the table, made the skill shot but when Pacman got mad and try to release the ball from the hole, it got stuck in there, in that little "plastic box" ... you know lol. Oh btw, had to exit the table/vp to clear the table. F3 (reset) didn't warm about missing ball ... but I think this have to do with the ROM right? Not detecting missing balls from the game. I'm not an expert in this table. :(

Another thing that I was afraid to ask too ... lol
Just because I never had laid eyes to the actual pin of Ms Pacman. Taking a quick look at it in IPDB, looks like those pacmans on top of the Number/Counters are white when off. Right now they are pink too.

The only pink I can spot fast in the real table are in the Apron, some parts of the playfield (drawn) .. and I don;t know if that is the norm. http://www.ipdb.org/...no=47080&zoom=1

Can spot the left one is Orange when the pink goes.

Oh, ... and this is just to be annal, but the credit indicator is blue when not lit, it should be withe/snowed white... :P yes I know.... I'm starting to be annoying.

pac_lights_t.png

This is the off (only) image used for the lights. The yellow is R100 G100 B0 are lit with R89 G89 B0 grey off, (which has no effect when using an image I believe) and Full white on. There should be no pink, but since the lights are calling up a image, but not calling up a material for that image, I'm not sure.

If good color vision people are seeing the alert color in images that lights are using, this is a bug in VP.

That light has always been white up to the last few revisions. It's not the light color but the way the light is used. I'll get it white again. There is something satisfying about getting to the point of being annal about critisism.

Thank you.

In that picture there is no hint of pink ..... maybe is the entire playfield? Because the "wood" color have a huge pink tint to it. It's more prominent in the launch ball canal.

BTW Ball size at 52 is good for the lanes but still is getting stuck at the skillshot cage when release.

OK. I got it. What it is is the words PACMAN SAUCER below the saucer. They need to be made non collidable with the new larger ball. I did that already but it must have been one of the builds that got in a condition I didn't want to save. You can raise them, or easier just make them non collidable. I guess it's going to need another release sooner rather than later. I'll che3ck those side walls again too.

:( sorry my skills with the editor is very primitive. I always try to zoom in with ALT+Wheel lol... but looking at stuff (lurking around in the editor) I saw that the ball goes trough the metal little rails that are located down the flippers. In comparison with for example, the vector table by Sinbad, I saw that there is a primitive? and in the pacman table is a wall... don't know shit what I'm saying, so I'm really lost. Just want to make your table better hope your aren't offended.

No worries then. Beta5 is here and addresses all the issues you brought up.

- I made the wall blocking the saucer exit non collidable.

- I made the small paclights more white and a more vivid black border around the pacmans

- I lowered the intensity of the light that overlaps the lane arrows.

- I changed the image and color of the lane arrow lights.

- Apron light is now white.

- Went on another easter egg hunt. I mean pink element hunt. Came up empty.

Plus

- Made bigger brighter light at base of pop bumpers.

Yes the wires there are walls. They are collidable but have no hit event. A fast ball will go over them but a slow ball goes along them. Post beta they will probably be primitives with a hit event.

No one else is having problems with the ball getting stuck in the left outlane and inlane on Pac Man?

I played 10 straight games got the ball stuck on the left lanes every game.

I could not make the ball drain on the right to test it.

First post has been updated with relevant links to tables.  Many thanks to the authors in supporting this thread; hopefully many will report back with some nice comments :).  I will be testing these tomorrow, wife's birthday today and other issues put a kibosh on my own testing.  How rude of her ;)
