File Name: Twinky (Chicago Coin 1967)

File Submitter: jpsalas

File Submitted: 29 Sep 2025

File Category: VPX Recreations

Author(s): jpsalas
Halen
Manufacturer: Other - Pinball
Year: 1967
Permission to MOD?: Yes, with approval

Based on the table Twinky by  Chicago Coin from 1967.

VPX by jpsalas
B2S and graphics by halen

Check this video to understand the rules: Twinky glass off rules demonstration and explanation.

Notes about this VPX version:
- the table does not have a coin reel, so it works as a free play table, just press 1 to run with one player and press 1 again for 2 players. The real table did not have a coin reel either and it worked by inserting 1 coin for 1 player or 2 coins for a 2 player game.

You need to hit the Left or Right Magna Save to score the lit light.

That's one of the things that are interesting in these old tables, to discover their hidden gems :) This table had an interesting mechanism to score the peacock value, and I have added the same mechanism at the same spot as the original, under the left plastic :)

I'm not sure if the real table had some way to display these extra balls, as I haven't been able to see it in the videos available.

On Pinside somebody wrote: "Mine is intended to be an Add-A-Ball - you can tell by the giant insert in the apron that says Same Player Shoots Again."

I guess it's that big circle in the middle of your apron, and the pictures on the IMDB (including the flyer) with the company logo in that place are showing the replay version.

So there wasn't a visible extra ball counter for the player, just a lamp that were on as long the player had one or more extra balls to play.

Yes those small flippers aren't easy to control the ball, and it doesn't help either with the inlanes loosing the ball :)

It does work for me, 5 balls as default. Try downloading version 1.01 in case something is wrong with the version you downloaded.

I am running VPX 10.74. Maybe that's why I only get one ball per game. Maybe it works on 10.8 but I did not upgrade yet, (like many people, because I am very happy to have my 300 games working and don't want to risk making an error and have nothing working anymore!)  But Thanks JP for another beautiful game

Not familiar with this table, but this seems like a bug: there are occasions when the peacock will start spinning without me having done anything that should start it... the display message telling you to stop it doesn't light up, and the buttons don't stop it.  I can only stop it if I subsequently do something that's supposed to start it spinning, e.g. land in the sinkhole.  Then the message lights up and I can stop it.

That looks to me like the timer starts on its own (?!) Strange, as it has never happened to me, but I'll check the table and I'll see if something is wrong.

Correct.

Just look for Sub ResetForNewGame() (around line 700) and add this line:

BallsPerGame =5

(Change "5" to "3" if you prefer a 3 ball game.)

Same for me. It'll start as the ball goes down one of the inlane drains. I once had a game end with the peacock still spinning.
