Release – Bob Cuspe Pinball

Release — Bob Cuspe Pinball
Bob Cuspe Pinball is a real, fully built pinball machine born from a love of pinball and Brazilian counterculture. Created by Ricardo Coelho of Racers Pinball Clube @racerspinballclube (Mauá, São Paulo, Brazil), the project started from a Taito Drakor (1979), which provided the mechanical and electronic backbone. The initial idea was to honor the thrash metal band Slayer, but it evolved into something more personal and rooted: a celebration of the punk universe and Bob Cuspe (Bob Spit), the character by Angeli that marked generations in Brazil. In his teenage years, Coelho was involved in the punk movement, and saw the project as an opportunity to reconnect with his cultural and musical roots.
In the build, the original Drakor was radically reimagined. Of the three bumpers, one was removed, changing the game's flow. The playfield layout was redesigned, with lanes, multipliers, and targets repositioned. The captive ball takes center stage, triggering a target tied to an electromagnet and creating a chaotic, unexpected interaction—very much in the spirit of punk. Drop targets were reorganized to enable new combinations, while targets were arranged to spell P-U-N-K, awarding Special upon the fifth completion of the sequence. The result preserves Taito's essence while delivering gameplay that is fresh, bold, and challenging.
Visually, the project draws strength from illustrator DanielZ @danielzpinball. Inspired by the feature film Bob Cuspe – Nós Não Gostamos de Gente (Bob Spit: We Do Not Like People, 2021, by César Cabral), DanielZ recreated images from the stop-motion animation and added hatching and line art that echo Angeli's comics. The result is a dense aesthetic with darker tones and an underground atmosphere, faithful to the symbolic clash of punk versus pop—embodied by a caricature reminiscent of Elton John.
Finishing work also included painting by Morcego MZ-2, who applied custom airbrushing and pinstriping to the cabinet and bumpers, reinforcing the table's singular identity. Every detail was designed to reflect the strength of the theme and the project's boldness, making this one of the most original creations in Brazil's pinball scene.
Bob Cuspe Pinball is more than a pinball machine: it's a tribute to Brazilian counterculture, blending creative engineering with original art into a showcase that celebrates a generation's rebellious spirit.

Note: the table uses the drakor ROM.
