Masters of the Universe - Collector's Edition (PinEvent V2 - FizX 3.3)

Masters of the Universe - Collector's Edition" has been a passion project of mine for a good 18 months. I started with Rom's classic table from 2013, and then proceeded to do a complete table rebuild with all-new code with the intent to make The Most POWERFUL Pinball game in the UNIVERSE! This is virtual pinball at a scale like you've never seen before!

First, I rebuilt it for modern FizX physics, BAM lighting, shadows and PinEvent features. With updated FizX physics, I needed to rebuild much of the layout with significant changes to how this table plays. From there I proceeded to make a completely new and massive game that lives up to the potential of MOTU and what is possible with FP-BAM in 2024! To give you an idea, the old MOTU table was 70 MB while the new MOTU CE is 672 MB just for the table file!

New Blender raytraced baked lighting and shadows combined with FP's dynamic lighting / shadowmaps / lightmaps and ray cast shadows creates a unique and gorgeous visual spectacle like no other!

All new detailed and painted models scanned from actual 80's MOTU toys are brought to life with my new custom animation code made just for this table! You've never seen pinball toys look and move like this!

The objective of the game is to complete each of the new 16 modes and get all collectables (action figures, vehicles, playsets) to become the Master of the Universe!

DISCLAIMER:

This table is a fan-made work of passion, and is NOT intended for commercial usage or to be included in any part of a commercial sale!

====================================================================

HOW TO DOWNLOAD THE GAME

The game files are on my Mega Share. To download it click on the download link here:

https://mega.nz/fold...dgs9EtJYasvSBdg

- this will take you to my Mega share where the table zips are located
- right-click on ONE zip file only!
- choose Standard Download
- DO NOT choose Download as a Zip file! (this is known to cause problems)

====================================================================

There are TWO versions of this game you can download.

- the normal complete game
- the "Minimal" version

Both are identical except for a couple of differences with the "Minimal" version

- this version of the table has the entire Mega Room and all Toppers removed
- this is intended for those with low vram on their GPU or for slower PCs
- cabinet users (who do not see the VR Room or Toppers at all) can use this version as well
- choosing any Mega Room or Topper options in the script will have no effect!
- this version of table is set to the Minimal Room by default

====================================================================

This game supports up to three players!

Each player chooses a faction and a character to play in the game!

====================================================================

Physics: FizX v3.3

====================================================================

TABLE REQUIREMENTS (very important!)

- all Visual C Runtime updates
- DirectX
- Future Pinball
- the latest BAM update
- FuturePinball.exe and FPLoader.exe patched for 4 GB access
- BAM Settings files installed
- FizX 1K ball model (for more accurate physics, default.zip in BAM folder)
- the REQUIRED “Video / Rendering Options” and “Editor Options” in Future Pinball video settings

NOT TO WORRY!

All of the above is included with the latest FP and BAM Essentials AIO package!

Super easy to use for a new install, or just to update your existing install. I recommend everyone install this package to ensure you have the latest required BAM updates and other files pre-installed!

https://www.vpforums...showtopic=51600

====================================================================

IMPORTANT! - UPDATE REQUIRED!

This table REQUIRES a newer beta version of BAM (1.5-401) that is not yet released on Ravarcade's site.

This BAM 1.5-401 update is included with the FP and BAM Essentials AIO package version 3.3 or higher!

EVERYONE needs this new update to run this table! Simply install the latest FP and BAM Essentials AIO, and you are good to go!

====================================================================

PC HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS

What options can you try if your GPU has less VRAM (around 4 GB)?

- use the "Minimal" version which uses alot less vram
- you can enable Texture Compression (in FP video settings) which greatly reduces how much vram is used
- if you use a "Start FP" bat file, then you will also need to enable Texture Compression in that file!
- enabling Texture Compression may take a little longer to load, but not much

Total VRAM usage on my PC (fresh boot of windows - only FP is running - 4K resolution)

1.4 Table = 4.5 GB
1.4 Table - Minimal = 3.8 GB

note: enabling Trilinear Filtering adds around 600 MB more vram usage)

Total VRAM usage after enabling Texture Compression in FP Video settings

1.4 Table = 3.4 GB
1.4 Table - Minimal = 2.7 GB

So as you can see, with the 1.4 update, users with a GPU with 4 GB vram now have options to play the table!

====================================================================

LOADING TIMES

With the 1.4 update of the table, I have highly optimized the table to drastically reduce load times. Combine this with the new BAM v401 update, and you see a massive difference in load times!

Load times : from "clicking play" to "ready to start playing" (Intel i5 13600K CPU)

1.3 Table (Trilinear Filtering) = 1 minute 3 seconds

1.4 Table (Trilinear Filtering) = 31 seconds
1.4 Table (Bilinear Filtering) = 20 seconds

A heads up... the "Ball Appearance" information in TABLE OPTIONS is listed wrong.

This is what it currently shows....

' ====== Ball - Appearance ======

' Choose the ball appearance you want on table startup (can be toggled during attract mode with Special keys / buttons)

Ball_Type = 1

' 1 = match faction chosen (Heroic Warriors = He-Man, Evil Warriors = Skeletor, Evil Horde = Hordak)
' 2 = match faction chosen (chrome) (Heroic Warriors = He-Man, Evil Warriors = Skeletor, Evil Horde = Hordak)
' 3 = Chrome (normal pinball)
' 4 = He-Man
' 5 = Skeletor
' 6 = Hordak

These are the correct options. The code is fine and works as intended. Just use the numbers for the correct options as shown below.

No need for the table to have a "fix" for this to work if you use the right number.

' ====== Ball - Appearance ======

' Choose the ball appearance you want on table startup (can be toggled during attract mode with Special keys / buttons)

Ball_Type = 1

' 1 = match faction chosen (Heroic Warriors = He-Man, Evil Warriors = Skeletor, Evil Horde = Hordak)
' 2 = Chrome (normal pinball)
' 3 = He-Man
' 4 = Skeletor
' 5 = Hordak
' 6 = match faction chosen (chrome) (Heroic Warriors = He-Man, Evil Warriors = Skeletor, Evil Horde = Hordak)
' 7 = He-Man (chrome)
' 8 = Skeletor (chrome)
' 9 = Hordak (chrome)

PUP FullDMD issues for Non-English / non-US locale setups.

If your windows is not set to use English or US locale, then you may run into a problem where portions of the PUP FullDMD wont display correctly. This is typical Windows local issue problems.

The solution is to add this line below to the table script under Option Explicit. Then save the table. (I'll add this to the next update for the table)

SetLocale 1033 'set region to US

Masters of the Universe - Collector's Edition

VR doesn't show table items during attract and other events.

SOLUTION BELOW!

The decals, and many table items disappear during attract, start of game and ball drain, but they come back when a new ball is created.

This was caused by a DEV setting in the BAM menu that was left on and saved to the BAM settings files I have you install for VR only (I didn't see it as I used a different BAM VR folder for testing).

The solution is easy:

- while playing (in VR as it uses separate settings), open the BAM menu (~ or Q)
- make your way to the DEV Options menu
- if the "Use One Shader" settings is ON, then you'll have the missing items
- change "Use One Shader" to OFF to fix the issue

That's it. this problem can effect any mode if this setting is on... but for some reason it was left on in the settings file I had for VR. Sorry about that. I'll have a fixed settings file in the next small update to FP and BAM Essentials AIO to resolve it.

Future Pinball and BAM Essentials AIO

2.7 update - VR Settings fixes! - Dec 2024

  • new updated Install txt file (to act as a quick install - text only guide)
  • new "BAM Settings for VR" to replace the files from 2.6 that had an incorrect DEV setting (that caused graphics glitches, missing items in VR only)

I highly recommend everyone install this update, to ensure you have proper updated BAM VR settings files!

If you have a working install from a previous version of this AIO package:

  • then simply install the new files over your current install
  • run the "BAM Settings - VR - Reset and Install.bat"
  • run the "BAM Settings - Cabinet - Reset and Install.bat" or "BAM Settings - Desktop - Reset and Install.bat" for your setup
  • use a "Start FP" bat file (that matches your setup) to run FP at least once with the proper settings applied

Read my included updated Guides as needed for whatever info you need!

FEEDBACK HAS BEEN VERY HELPFUL!

Thanks to everyone who has provided feedback (and with pics and videos, etc) with whatever problems they were having! This helps immensely as I can see what is going on with things I can't replicate myself (some being the result of non-english related Windows locale issues, etc). This lead to the fixes implemented in update 1.1.

EVERYONE, please install the 1.1 update!

Please give feedback if having problems still, or if it seemed to help or fix your issues... anything.

If some are still having problems:

- in rare cases a couple of balls may jam a kicker / scoop entrance (Skeletor) and force a ball out of bounds. I can't prevent this (that I know of). If this happens, an Orko Shot won't be able to retrieve the ball. Your only option at that point is to TILT, and allow the game to force an end of ball and resume.

- if you have a low spec PC (slower CPU, low vram, low RAM, etc), this game simply may not run correctly for you!  It doesn't matter if other PinEvent tables run fine for you. This was a game made for 2024 with all the modern features and physics that entails. Those things require a capable PC (but not a powerhouse PC either). This is not your FP from 2010 anymore! This is the most powerful pinball in the universe darn it! :)

BTW... if it hasn't said by me yet...

Thank you to everyone for the overwhelmingly positive reception to this table! It's very humbling to see so many enjoy the same kind of game I do (no matter what app its made / played on), and the compliments you have been giving have been very kind! It's awesome to see the extra efforts I put in (to so many details and the crazy amount of content / modes / features) is noticed and enjoyed by everyone. This is not your typical "play for 5 minutes" pinball game... and I'm glad to see everyone is discovering the many cool things it has that will keep you coming back to this for a very long time.

TIPS

USE your ORKO SHOTS and Toggle Modes! So many people are missing these very cool and critical features. It's a complete game changer, and unlike anything you'll see on other pinball games! Once you catch on to how it works... its a very fun and helpful feature!

Don't forget about Power Perks! The rewards don't expire (they are saved to your fpRAM file for the table) and can be very helpful towards becoming Master of the Universe and completing the game!

Show everyone your best Score but also your most Collections!

Masters of the Universe - Collector's Edition

Lost / stuck Balls still? Try this? May or may not help.

(make sure you have the new 1.1 update first!)

To anyone having the ball get stuck / lost in Skeletor kicker, or other odd issues (but its running fine otherwise)...

Check the BAM menu (~ or q) and goto Addons. If the "Frame Limiter" is set to OFF, try changing it to AUTO (which is normally the default setting). This is NOT a vsync / fps limiter... but more an internal timing limiter that may allow some events to trigger too quickly or repeatedly if set to OFF, and may cause an odd problem depending on the player's PC and other settings.

While having that set to OFF normally doesnt cause a problem, it doesn't hurt to see if this helps anyone having things like this happen.

I think my default BAM Settings for cabinet and desktop had this set to OFF, so I want to see if I should be changing that to AUTO just in case now.

Please give it a try and let me know how it plays.

If you have other problems by setting Frame Limiter to AUTO (stutters, etc)... then make sure you have the futurepinball.exe set to "disable fullscreen optimizations" first, as without that set you'll get the odd stutters occurring which is a separate thing.

If still having problems... change Frame Limiter back to OFF if it works better for you.

v1.2 update

- added PUP_SSF_Max_Volume setting to TABLE OPTIONS - PinEvent
- moved PUP_BallRoll_Max_Volume setting to TABLE OPTIONS - PinEvent
- added Lost_Ball_Key option if player lost a ball from a glitch, has no balls left, and can't progress (TABLE OPTIONS)
- added Force_Tilt_key option in case game became stuck and player can't progress (TABLE OPTIONS)

Lost_Ball_Key and Force_Tilt_key are disabled by default. They are only meant as a last resort option if your game became stuck for whatever reason and you can't progress.

v1.3 update

- updated ballsaver code to always reset when ball kicked out of plungerlane (except for MB modes)
- fix for Mekaneck Mystery Ready pupdmd label getting stuck on during specific moments
- hide pupdmd png animations during ram-man and battlecat "collected" events
- updated left ramp and added fixes to (hopefully) prevent anymore superspeed balls coming off that ramp
- Perks or Points: now shows how many Power Perks are available and how many Power Points you can get before making a choice

Note: you can always exit out of choosing Perks if you change your mind. Choosing Points however is permanent)

If you had any previous versions of the table already installed, make sure the new 1.3 table file uses the same filename you used before so it will use your CFG file (for pov) that you have installed, and so it uses your fpRAM file which has your high scores and Power Perks saved.

Yes, it's a long ass video. A table this large has lots to talk about. If you want, take some time to learn how some of the magic (and my brain) works. That's what chapters are for :)

John Erwin passed away Dec 2024. His family just recently announced his passing.

I decided to just play my own game and do a creator commentary.
