File Name: Riccione

File Submitter: harling

File Submitted: 15 Jan 2024

File Category: VPX Originals

Author(s): Christian Harling
jpsalas
Fusionwerks
Permission to MOD?: Yes, with approval

I created my first table, inspired by 1-2-3 from jpsalas. I wanted to get some mediterranian adriatic coast feeling into my cabinet, as I go to Riccione for vacation every year. Thx to jpsalas I found a good basis to start with, Fusionwerks was really helpful to build the cabanas in Blender as well as my parasols for the bumpers.
To make it complete I also added a backglass to the download for you. Hope you have fun, for me it seems the table is working - if you find any problems please let me know.

V1.1:
I made small changes, thank you for your input
- I changed cgamename as recommended to use 1-2-3 DOF settings, also attached readme.txt to the download with additional VPMAlias line
- added wheel png to the download
- changed behavior of extra ball (will now turn of when used)
- tried to add a hole into the back wall 21 where the ball appears top of waterslide

V1.2:
- changed the waterslide outlet again, aligned the slide to backwall
- added postcard and cabana picture if you need more italian impressions

V1.3:
Corrected cgamename for DOF, read reame.txt file
Added Instruction Card jpg

V1.4:
Small change to plastics graphic and highscore postit
made all artwork downloadable in separate file
added a 4 player version with corresponding backglass

Good start, for your first table. I like that you hid parts of the bumpers to really give the look of the parasols. I am glad i could help you. You might consider adding a sub that resets the state of the top 3 triggers/lights and re-lights them after the special bonus time elapses. And they can be reset between games. Right now they stay at the same state from game to game. Also maybe create a .png image to put on wall21 (back wall) that has a transparent area where the ball comes out of the waterslide.

Good job harling !

just some hints: as you said, 1-2-3 was used as "base" table.

so for us dof users: in script change cgamename to "T1D_123_riccione" and make an new line in VPMAlias.txt "T1D_123_riccione,T1D_123"

so your table can use the already existing and well working dof settings of 1-2-3

another hint for cab users: switch the music in soundmanager from table to backglass and lower the volume a little bit

Greetings from bavaria to bavaria ;)

Karl

I took this advice and changed the table script, also added a VPMAlias.txt to the download. Also the ideas of Fusionwerks were implemented, hope the waterslide outlet now looks better and the upper 3 letters BAR are now reset for a new game as well. As I haven't DOF running and also the sound of my small sized cabinet isn't so complex I can't test or change volume as suggested.

Just an urgent hint:
Don't REPLACE an existing vpmalias.txt, only ADD new lines into it

The changes in music output/volume are only a personal setting, if one needs or not. You don't need to change this globally in YOUR table 😉

I changed my download and added a readme.txt inlcuding the info for VPMAlias.txt, so hopefully noone is overwriting his settings now. It is also a remark in the tables script, so people will hopefully find it.

For some reason, when I click on the download link I get an error saying the file cannot be found. Anyone else seeing this?

nevermind, it must have been stuck in approval

I beg your pardon - to all DOF users, please check the script of the v1.2 and change cgamename to TLD_123_riccione
Also in VPMalias.txt please correct to
TLD_123_riccione,TLD_123

It where my weak old eyes which can't seen the difference in 1 and l

VERY GOOD Christian!

Played the game yesterday night as 1st game on our cab, my wife and myself couldn't stop! The music is harmonious with the game's mood. Gameplay ist perfectly balanced (game-play physics and ratio between skill and luck). Please do us the favor and create a manufacturer's logo -> for perfect appearance in Pinballx. Further a 4- player version would be consequent continuation of this very inspired idea.

Thank you, and all the best regards, Christian.

@Mustang1961

I am not sure about the manufacturer logo as I use wheel pictures in PinballY (that's already provided in my download). So I created a logo that could be more like a manufacturer logo. Hope this fit's your need.

I made slight changes to the graphics, now separated the artwork (including also the wheel version of Fusionwerks, thank you!) in a spearate file. And for your special wish I made a 4-player version as well. Hope it plays well for you all! Have fun and can't expect summer time  :db:

Today I corrected the backglass of the 4-player version. Now it shows lights for Player 1, 2, 3 or 4 to indicate who's ball is it. I use B2S Player Up to control this and wonder why I couldn't have two or three lamps to light up for e.g. Player 1. When I told another light to switch on with same values, all lights came on. Are there better solutions to control the "actual player" lights? I also think of the overall brightness - how should this be done in backglasses - do I upload a second background (darker) maybe? And last question on my mind - would it be better to have the actual player displayed differently, with e.g. a reel like for credits? Thank you for sharing your opinions.

Often the backglass images are quite dark, and only some areas will be lightened with the light function of b2s designer
