Favorite Pinball: Anyone if gaming and appearence are great
Posted 12 September 2018 - 06:30 PM
Hi, I alredeady posted this topic in "Frontends ans Addons", but I was not sure it was the right place !
First of all I want to thank Herweh for this fantastic tool
I'm a desktop user and I'm trying for the first time to make a direcb2s file
I noticed two things, this topic has been locked (that's why I start a new one), and there's been no update since March 2013 (or perhaps I missed it !)
Sure there's something I don't understand !
Isn't it possible to improve this tool to bring it at the same level than VPX ?
Hope I offend nobody and it's not a bit of scandal !
No one should be offended by your opinion, I also think it would be very good to update this tool, but as we all know that they do this for hobbies and sometimes do not have time either for the family for work, for health, and that surpasses them.
Maybe later we will get a new version, while, and if we do not have the skills of a programmer to improve this tool we will continue using it.

I may be mistaken, but I did believe that (one day) the devs are working on making d2bs part of VPX...... I know this won't help you right now batch.....
There is always potential for more. If you watch real pinball backglasses you will also notice the same. Sometimes the reality does look better and sometimes if you believe it or not the digital counterpart is close or does look even better than what the real pinball machine does offer. The conclusion is both worlds offer huge possibilities and are fantastic!

Xenonph, in fact I just don't understand how works the link to SourceForge Kalavera sent me (just to be sure "1.2" is the last version)
The problem I have is with Illumination, I'd like to be able to decrease Intensity and also to select Dodge color the same way than Intensity or LEDS, whereas I just can choose between Green, Red and so on ...
The only other option I have is to set Illumination to "OFF" and to use Intensity color settings
for me movable snippets (x, y coordinates and rotation) would be great. For instance the bagatelle game at Catacomb or the moving rocket in Moonlight have been a nightmare to build using tons of snippet images for each position.
Click window at the top to open small windows if needed
To Copy an image to the hard drive, Right click the image
If you are taking a 2 screen backglass and converting it to 3 screen after importing your need to go to File Then settings and select where you want the DMD image to show
Saving the BackGlass -- This is what I do
After you import or Delete something (or make a new one) make your changes then go up to Top where it says backglass, then click create B2S backglass file, then click on backglass preview and test...Then another window will pop up where it gives you a chance to run the backglass and then you can decide where you want to save it
I load the 2 screen back glass into the designer, Then you should have some menus (if you don't Go up to window)
Then I right clicked the back glass image it allows you to save it to your hard drive
Use a photo editing program to crop out the part you want
For the snippits right click save all the snippits into one folder
What I do is open up 2 versions of The Designer then you can use the information from the Original to put in your new BackGlass, Lamp Name, Rom ID, Size
Set grill height - Go up to image, Then grill height, Set grill height
Adding DMD image - click on image, Then import the DMD image
Click on file, settings and tell it where you want image to show up
Once you have your DMD image imported
Go up to illuminations, Then add new illuminations snippits Once import it, Fill in the blanks hit apply move the snippit over the top of the exact same item
To see if you have them lined up correctly Click on the left light bulb at the top
If you are making a 3 screen back glass When the score is part of the back glass In the speaker area you will have to click on file, settings and tell it where you want the
b2s DMD location setting to be... I always say 3rd Monitor
As far as moving the scores delete the scores put them on the DMD image then save the back glass
NOTE: If you delete the scores and save the back glass then tried to put them on the DMD Image (That never works right for me)
the Link that happened to you from sourceforge, is just so you can see that you are working and updating the program, if you see there you will see the modification dates, only informative is not to discard anything.
It's really a fantastic tool, and I just wondered why there had been no update since 2013
And I found no more recent version on SourceForge, but perhaps I just don't understand how to get it !
SourceForge is only code. It has to be compiled in order to have a usable program. I haven't had a chance to use the latest build so I'm not sure how improved it is.
