Working on next Mod.

I first would like to thank Tonythewrench for allowing mods without permission. i would also like to thank him for making a great table!!

Link to his fantastic table..http://www.vpforums....&showfile=12419

From the 80's movie Legend, starring Tom Cruise when he was still a kid.

A battle between dark and light.

I will be adding sound effects from the movie.

The band "YES" made the soundtrack for this movie, so there should be some really good background music on this mod!!

Here is what the playfield looks like so far...

I haven't adjusted any lights yet..

I just wanted to see what the pic would look like on playfield.

This is by no means close to finished.

What do you think?

I never really played this one, but YES is one of my top 5 bands.  Finally getting into the Rock Hall of Fame, shame it took so long.  Good luck with build

Nice work. But the music isn't made by Yes. There are three versions of this film. Two of them have the filmmusic of John Williams.
The third is a bad cut and has music by one of my favourite electronic groups Tangerine Dream. And there is a song with Jon Anderson from Yes. Also one with Bryan Ferry from Roxy Music. :-)

Thats right!! I was just going by memory of the song that plays at end of movie. Sounded like the guy from YES. I bet this has fooled many others.

Still should be great for background music sound effect.

Little bit more done.

I will be adding art to black strip in middle of playfield.

I also will be modifying the apron.

I am thinking about changing lights in upper left to say D-A-R-K instead of L-O-R-D.

I moved the upper arrow light more towards kicker so it wasn't on face of devil.

Here is what the original 2048x4096 playfield pic looks like to give you idea how big it is...

I can't wait to add the sound effects!!

I have many!!

Decided to add text that was on plastics to the black strip in middle of playfield. (I used Unicorn Font.)

Also the eyes of darkness flash!!

I tried both yellow and green lights. (They glow yellow I think in movie.)

I think I am staying with the green lights which only activate when upper chamber is activated.(And attract mode.)

The playfield pic has green rays coming out of his eyes so green really fits I think.

What do you think?

Here is green eye flashers..

I may change mind on text on middle black strip.

I added Lilly to left side and Gump the forest elf, to the right side.

I may try to combine text with pics on this black strip.

Also the ball was getting stuck on top part of middle ramp.

I just lowered the ramp exit from 60.1 to 60.0001.

Also all the ramp entrys were set wrong so they were distorted and mixed with playfield pic. I raised them to .01 height.

Also there is a space on upper right of middle ramp that the ball gets stuck at. I read up on all the info about this, but it is not the height of the ramp that is causing this. It is the space between the rubber and the ramp that is catching the ball as seen in pic 3, so I made a small transparent wall to fill in this gap, (Pic 4) and now no balls get stuck anywhere on ramps. (Or anywhere else so far.)

It may look big zoomed in, but it is tiny area that kept catching ball.

From the 80's movie Legend, starring Tom Cruise when he was still a kid.

A battle between dark and light.

I will be adding sound effects from the movie.

The band "YES" made the soundtrack for this movie, so there should be some really good background music on this mod!!

Might want to check your facts a little bit. ;-)   There were actually two film scores made for Legend 1985.  The first one was originally done by Jerry Goldsmith but due to poor reception during test screenings Ridley Scott decided to have Tangerine Dream do the score for the US release of the film.  I think maybe you're confusing the Tangerine Dream song "Loved by the Sun" that is sung by Jon Anderson as being performed by YES.  You can find some more details at the following two URLs.

Wikipedia info on the Legend score: https://en.wikipedia...nd_(film_score)

and the score info on IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/...9469/soundtrack

Anyhow, so much for my rambling on one of my favourite films, I can't wait to play some Legend pinball!  (hoping for some Tim Curry quotes!)

Best Regards,

Yes I jumped the gun when I said YES did the sound track for this movie. I was just going off memory of that one song they play at end of movie. It definately sounded like YES.

I am definately adding a bunch of quotes from Tim Curry (And the rest of the crew, like Gump, Lilly, and Blix the Goblin. It is hard to imagine that Tim Curry is under all that makeup of Darkness. Same guy who played Hercoma Hermolka from Congo movie. They really did a great job on the makeup!!

I had found a bunch of sound effects on google, but they are not very good quality, so I will make my own from the movie. I just convert movie to mp3, and import into Audacity and chop what sounds I like. Seems to work pretty good.

I was going to make a Conan the Destroyer mod, but there didn't seem to be much interest in the Regular Conan table, so I put that on hold. I don't want to make a table that nobody wants to play. Just look at the number of times Conan VPX has been downloaded, and then look at all the other tables released about the same time. All other tables have been downloaded way more times. Maybe its because they see my name attached to table. I really don't know, but the fact that all my tables are not downloaded as much as others that were released about the same time, tells me that I am not doing something right. Yes I am still a beginner at all this, but I will eventually get better at this.

This does have a small effect on my motivation to even work on these tables. I may not be as good as all the other table authors here, but I put in alot of work and time into each project. And I will get better at this!! That I can promise you. A year and a half ago, I made my first mod, and editted my first pic ever. I have came quite a long way since then and learned many things.

I don't want to make tables that people don't want. And all you have to do is look at how many people have downloaded my tables. That is a pretty good indicator to me.

I may just keep all my work and tables private after I finish this Legend table. Until I get better at this, or people start downloading my tables like all the rest of authors tables.

Some of those VPX NFL tables still only have 10 downloads, and they were made months ago. If that isn't a sign, I don't know what is.

I am just trying to do my part to contribute to this community in any way that I can. Hopefully some of you out there have seen that I have improved just a bit from where I started, and am moving in right direction. I may never be as good as all the other great authors, but by damn I will keep trying my best to make tables that everyone will like.

Sorry for rambling.

I just want everyone to know that I am trying to make these all the best as I possibly can.

Not so easy when you don't have a crew of professionals that bring there special expertise when working on certain parts of table for you.

I ran out of my quota of likes.(As usual!!)

I am actually mentally disabled.

Working on these tables brings me a happiness I cannot explain in words.

I had no experience editting pics, and very little experience with Pinball Editor. What got me into this was downloading JPSalas's Smurf Whitewater mod. I downloaded it only to find that it was just pics and not a table. I then figured out how to import these Smurf  Mod pics into his Whitewater table, and that was all it took to get me hooked. I then wondered if I could make a Seahawks mod using the same way JPSalas did his Smurf mod. That was a little over a year and a half ago.

If I can do it, anybody can!!

You just have to dive right in, and try it. Yes you will make mistakes, but people here in this community will help you in anyway they can to get you started on your way to working on these tables!!

I love working on these tables and I don't think I will ever stop.

JPSalas's Original Whitewater DT table...http://www.vpforums....s&showfile=6091

If you check the comments section on Smurf mod download page, you will see the exact date that I learned how to do this.(Nov 2015.) So I shared how to apply the mod pics to table for othersw that didn't know how..

Smurf Playfield Mod

http://www.vpforums....s&showfile=6122

And this is my first table I think. I thought i made it in December of that year, but the dates on download page don't lie. I am actually embarassed at how this table looks, (and all the VP9 NFL mods!!), but this shows you what I was capable of back then when I first started messing around with the tables.

Yes it looks like crap, but I was so happy when I first made it!! Back then I thought it looked good!! Now I wish I could delete my uploads!! (Can't delete your uploads on this site.)
