File Name: Johnny Mnemonic (Williams 1995) FS (Matrix Light FIX) D+N-MOD

File Submitter: xenonph

File Submitted: 09 Feb 2017

File Category: VP 9.x MOD Cabinet Tables (FULL SCREEN)

Author(s): Pacdude
bmiki71 FS MOD
teppotee (Night MOD)
Xenonph (Matrix Lights Fix)
Manufacturer: Williams
Year: 1995
ROM: Link to ROM
Media Pack: Link to Media Pack
Permission to MOD?: Unspecified

A mod of bmiki75 and teppotee's Day and Night  FS Johnny Mnemonic (Williams 1995) versions.
I first want to thank bmiki75 and teppotee for allowing mods without permission.
I also want to thank them and anyone else who helped make this table come to life. Including Scapino, Pacdude, wtiger, jimmyfingers, pinballdork, Jump111, mwong68, DedRock_V, and JPSalas.
BIG THANKS SIRS!!!

I also want to thank them for making an excellent table!!

Check the original table for more info. I'm sure alot of time and effort went into making this table, and it is deeply appreciated, so all credit should be directed there way.
Find original tables here...
bmiki75 FS day version...http://www.vpforums....s&showfile=5544
teppotee FS night version..http://www.vpforums....&showfile=8642#

I started out making this mod because I didn't see a DT version of teppotee's Night MOD.
After making the DT Mod, I noticed the Matrix lights were nowhere to be seen.
Well I fixed that and then noticed some lines protruding from the right sling. I got rid of those, so I figured I would upload a FS MOD as well as DT. Seeing how these FS versions have not been upgraded since 2013. (2011 for day mod.) I then noticed same with Day version, so I fixed it also.

I changed in script to add Color DMD from Colors posted on spreadsheet online.
I also rotated DMD. (Not sure what this does, but I hear FS users do this.)

So here is versions with working Matrix Lights and protruding alpha ramp fixed.

Hope you enjoy, and remember to thank the original Authors of these tables. I just made a couple of fixes to there masterpiece. They deserve all the credit!!

Xenonph - In your file notes you mention - "I also rotated the DMD".  Just to let you know that this makes the DMD sideways on a Cabinet version and even adding to the script does not fix the rotation problem.  Can you advise the exact line number you altered, as I cannot see the normal  Settings.Value("rol") = 0 or 1  and adding this line does not fix the problem either..... :otvclap:

I never knew that. I thought cabinet users had to rotate DMD? Maybe it was because I worked with them spanned NFL mods and they were set like that.

Sorry for the problem, I actually don't own a cabinet but I like to help all Pinball players, FS and DT users.

On line 73 you should see this...

    Controller.Games("jm_12r").Settings.Value("ror")=1

change the 1 to a zero so it will look like this...

    Controller.Games("jm_12r").Settings.Value("ror")=0

It may still look like it is rotated, but just right click on the DMD and click restore size and it will go back to un-rotated DMD.

Sorry for any problems this may have caused you.

I think I have been rotating all my FS Mods since I started modding, and I think this is the first time anyone told me that they don't want the DMD rotated.

EDIT:

Can you tell me what the rotating of DMD is used for ?

It says here in gtxjoes instructions...

Rotation of the DMD is configurable in the table script, but there is more than one way to change it depending on the table.  The reason the DMD rotation is not consistent is because some authors have their DMD monitor installed horizontal and some vertical in their pincabs.

Does anyone rotate the DMD or should I just leave it out of script the next time I make FS mod?

This would make for an interesting Poll to find out just how many cabinet users rotate there DMD.

Controller.Games("jm_12r").Settings.Value("ror")=0  was the fix. No need for further resetting.  My problem was that I was only searching the script for the term 'ROL' not 'ROR' thus none of my searches brought up the correct line to alter....My bad......

P.S.  Nice updates to the table.....

I think ROL rotates the DMD to left, and ROR rotates the DMD to right.

I will start adding both ROL and ROR to script, but I will comment it out, so the user will have to make the rotation themselves by uncommenting the line in the script.

I actually never read what the rotation of DMD was for, until I read gtxjoes instructions after you posted here.

"The reason the DMD rotation is not consistent is because some authors have their DMD monitor installed horizontal and some vertical in their pincabs."

I just assumed all FS cabinet versions were supposed to be rotated. My mistake Sir.

I want to thank you for bringing this to my attention. I learn something new everyday with this pinball stuff. And I love working on these tables with a passion.

I think Im addicted.

Thanks again Sir.

Keep on Pinballin'

I never knew that ROL stood for 'roll off left' and that I should even be looking for ROR...... So we have both learned something new about scripting in VP....!!!  STAY ADDICTED - your mods and updates improve on what we had before !!  Same goes with Godzilla !!

I kind of figured it was for VPM STAT, since we were talking about rotating the DMD.

The good ole C64 days.  There are still some old games that I play, and some of there best ported versions were for Commodore64. It was top of the line back then, and had best sounds.

My brother also had a Commodore VIC-20, while I had a TRS-80 for BASIC. And don't forget the cassette player instead of disc drive.

I had one friend who had an Apple IIe, and another with a TI-99 Texas Instruments computer with voice module. I played alot of Parsec and Munchman.

Good Times!!

We are so lucky to have been part of the beginning of the home computer uprising.

A very fun time in history.

Carry on Sir.
