File Name: Medieval Madness_Redux_2.3.rar

File Submitter: Dozer316

File Submitted: 16 Jan 2016

File Category: VPinMAME Recreations

Author(s): Dozer - base table by JPSalas - VP10 version by Dozer - Ninuzzu and Zany.
Manufacturer: Williams
Year: 1997
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

Medieval Madness Version 2.3

Another port from VP9 using the original table from JP Salas with enhancements.

This table is currently configured to use the unofficial profanity rom which is available in the link below.

If you would prefer to use one of the original release roms, then simply change the rom name in the script.

Many options are available for graphics via variables at the top of the script, please tweak these to your liking.

PLEASE NOTE: Version 2.X -The castle lighting (front green splash) and a couple of other lights in this area require that the table layback/inclination/FOV are not changed to be positioned properly.  If you want to change these variables, set the variable "Old_Lightning" to 1 in the script to use an angle independent scheme that will not break when these values are changed.

A huge thanks to Ninuzzu and Zany for providing models and textures for use in this version of the table.

Dozer.

HI There

The ball keeps getting lost in no mans land in the moat around the castle. In fact it happened within the first shot of the first game I tried. Hit the castle door and fell in the moat and was undetectable. I had to close open VP again and in the second game it happened in about 30 seconds of playing. Hit Merlock  , started troll mode and first shot deflected off a troll into the moat and same problem .. ball missing.

Have you made changes to any table slope, z offset etc. parameters?

I can't mimic your issue here locally - the moat is working like a champ.

I have not changed anything , I have a fresh install on VPX , downloaded the table and rom and played.

I just tried again , same issue hit the castle door , the door opens ball is lost in the moat, table start searching for the ball but does not recover.

ps: not specific to this table since my vp9  version  does it as well : why does the ball curve to the right when rolling down the playfield? Its a strong curve as if the table was standing extremely lobsided..

Do you have a controller plugged into your PC with analog controls - like an xbox 360 pad or similar?

I downloaded the latest CV table and the ball was doing the same , I then thought let me load a table I played that had no issues , TOTAN... the ball then worked as it should. After that when I tried CV and this table again there were no more problems .. the moat worked as it should and the ball rolled without curving ..

strange things happening in my room here haha .. Im glad the problem went away even though I don't know exactly how ..

The table is fantastic! and CV as well .. thanks for doing the conversions to VPX ;)

Great table Dozer... my favourite one!

please let me say something seen i have this pinball in real in the bar close to my home.

- it's quite impossible go in catapult. it's real little hole. after seeing real pinball i suggest those passages. i've seen this problem also in the last version of mm in vp9

6sawdv.jpg

- DOF activates gear when you hit wooden door and also gate... always... also first, secon and third smash before gates effectively open.

No problems with the moat area, but I did have the ball hang in the center drain.  The table started looking for the ball just after it drained. I looked down and could just barley see the ball dead center of the drain.  After several nudges it finally fell through and the game ended. (it was my last ball).   I have just a basic PC test rig, not in cab, no controller.   I have not changed anything on the table except to enable B2S and shinny castle surface option.

Thanks Dozer, looks like you have decided what I'm going to be doing this weekend. :)

Heya, I'll check that, I think I saw it happen once ages ago but it was after I'd had the table loaded and reloaded many times so thought it may have just been the editor being a bit weird.

The looks are really nice but the physics are terrible in all releases. Didn't you read the physics recommendations thread?

Nice release Dozer!  I can tell you put a lot of time in on this one.  Just enjoyed playing some great games on it., Got my new high score to boot :)

This table has been added to my PinballX table rotation

Table feedback:
- The auto_plunger/ball launch might need a solenoid sound
- That mini gate on the left loop exit shouldn't slow down the left loop shot.  I think it should only come into play when the ball is kicked out of Merlin Magic.  I know there was discussion on this when you added it and the enable option for table accuracy.  I guess the gate width or loop wall just needs a little adjustment.  Here's a vid with 2 consecutive left loop shots at 1:25.

i think this is the best release ever seen. my congratulations again dozer.

physycs is not perfect. i think table needs little adjustments to let it became perfect.

one thing: dof activate gear everytime and everywhere.... catapult, hit trolls, pesant, damsel and joust.

Cheers man, I think I've fixed this finally  uploading a new version now.

Thanks for the comments.  Not sure what  your issue with DOF is - those things shouldn't trigger DOF - perhaps check your config for switch entries.

I'm done trying to upload to this site - too many connection time outs and massive response lag.

Get v 1.1 from here instead.
