File Name: The Web (Pro Pinball) The_Web FS VP9.9

File Submitter: mfuegemann

File Submitted: 23 Dec 2015

File Category: VP 9.x Cabinet Tables (FULL SCREEN)

Author(s): mfuegemann
Zany (3D models)
Manufacturer: Original
Year: 1996
Permission to MOD?: No

This is "The Web" by the Pro Pinball Team, made originally in 1996 as a computer game.

This PC pinball game was my first real simulation at that time. It got me hooked instantly and I remember placing a paper sheet with the main insert texts in front of my monitor, as the screen resolution did not allow readable insert texts on the playfield.
This summer I wrote an e-mail to the Pro Pinball team to ask for their opinion about a Visual Pinball remake of that table. Adrian Barrit replied soon and gave me permission to proceed with the VPin version. Unfortunately he was not able to contribute any material. So I searched the web for "The Web". I found a decent playfield image, I started a redraw with and detailed table rules and strategies by Erik Mooney and Jonas Martinsson.
I still have the game CD, so I recorded the table callouts, the main music and used UltraPeepi's UltraDMD for the DMD display and animations.

Zany created the 3D models and textures of the space ships and some playfield details as Flippers, Bumper caps, Flashers.

The table needs Ultrpeepi's DMD module to run. So please install it first and place the folder "The Web.UltraDMD" in the same directory as the table file.
http://www.vpforums....602&hl=ultradmd

PinballWiz45b did a great job testing the table and pointing out several bugs and issues.

Arngrim added the DOF code and changed the B2S activation to the new controller file, so no more "B2S = True" parameter has to be set.
The music tracks must be unzipped and copied to Your "Visual Pinball\Music" folder. Please replace the older music files, if You already have installed a version prior to 1.1, as the file names have been changed for the BGout output.

If You have a previous version, please replace the folder "The Web.UltraDMD", as quit a lot new animations have been added.
Thanks again to Adrian Barritt for his permission to proceed.

Have fun and please use the support topic to post any findings and suggestions
Michael

One remark: please do not enable the Ball rolling sound at the moment. This will be included in version 1.0

Timeshock is less than likely. An ULTRA Edition has been released, and it's still able to run on these operating systems.

As for the original The Web, is that download safe from Old Games?

It has to warm up...SO IT CAN KILL YOU!

Hi,

yes, no other recreations of Pro Pinball games. I just wanted to tackle The Web, as I love the game and the first Kickstarter attempt to overhaul the complete series failed.

Hi sliderpoint,

I will fix this issue with the next version. Pleas do not use the flippers after entering the third letter for a while (until the idle animation starts).

It can be fixed by adding one line of code at line 5684, just before "WriteHS":

if initialpos > 3 then
     enterhs = False
     WriteHS
else

Thanks for the table, it's great

I created a DirectB2s file for the The Web table from Stat's image, I don't know how to upload or if I even have rights to.

Hope you don't mind if I post a link to my dropbox for it here? If so let me know and I'll remove it...

https://www.dropbox.....directb2s?dl=0

I just went to line 32 in the script and changed it from false to true, it worked.

Thx so much, mfuegeman!!!  A real nice christmas present :love39:

It is so magic for me:   propinball initiated kickstarter ... I think 3 (?) years ago, and I am happy that timeshock:ultra finally arrived on my desktop PC... some  weeks (???) and we can enjoy it on our cabs... :juggle: So good news!!!

And here comes "mfuegeman", announced a week (?) ago that he would try to remake my "childhood dream" "the web"... and *boom* here it comes... unbelievable!!!!!!!!

( Please do not misunderstand me: I am VERY VERY happy that propinball is rebuliding their stuff - and I will kickstarter their projects -  of course!!!!!

...  AND I know it is A DIFFERENT table!!!

... And I know that there are a lot of differences between a non-commercial and a commercial project!!!

That´s absolutely clear!)

.... but this vp "hit" is still unbelievable!!!!   :love39:  I CAN PLAY IT !!!!  AND I CAN PLAY IT NOW... :otvclap:

Hi sifusun,

I started in November with the material collection, playfield and plastics touchups and table scripting. I like to announce my WIPs a bit late, so that I can be sure the project is possible. But it was quite a ride!

At last I am happy that it turned out to be playable indeed. And I am happy that You like the table.

The main reason for this VPin project was that The Web was no longer part of the Kickstarter Ultra-Project (at least for now).

Michael

Hi Michael!  ... if I think of ALL the hard work:  RESPECT!!!!!! :love39:

"The web" was one of my propinball favourites...  and 3 years ago (PP announced something beautiful like: "we rebuild one (or more) tables") - on the one hand I was very happy and on the other hand sad, because  I thought : "Surely I have to wait a couple of years (!) to play "the web" (to be realistic)... :console:...

... but than came the magical Christmas 2015 :dblthumb:

sifusun, dont Forget the VP Team behind all that :)

Of course a BIG BIG thank to all the known and unknown VP supporters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :love39: :love39: :love39: :love39: :love39:

But in the end: For me still a miracle: Nearly "out of nothing" comes this beautiful table :otvclap:

Thank you Michael for the blast from the past. Going to hook up my dreamcast so I can check out this table when I first played it 10 years ago? Cool :)
